Description This little dutch rabbit was created in 1:12 scale using polymer clay.  Its little eyes are glass which give a very realistic shine.  After curing the tiny sculpture in the oven, it was given an applied coat of natural warm brown and white alpaca fiber (layer by layer) using scissors, tweezers & glue.  It is shown with a wicker basket made by Nancy Wantiez, and planted with Spring daffodil flowers (made from clay).

Honestly, without your hand there for reference, this would look like a photo of a rabbit!

That's one of the reasons I use the hand -- to show the scale of the sculpture

So, so wonderfully made. Fur gives your sculptures an additional dimension that I haven't seen before.

The tail is so cute!

I hope it's okay to ask, but what sort of glue do you use?  By the way, your sculptures are impressively realistic, especially the equine ones.

I use a general white craft glue called Aleene's Tacky glue and apply it in small sections using a paintbrush.
Thanks for the compliments on my mini animal sculpts

I really like all the different background colors you use. I would love to know what kind of set up you have for taking pictures. They are all just so uniform!

I built a small light box using foamcore & stretched silk fabric. Anyone can make one as patterns for them are all over the internet.  I use a set of clip lights above and 2 on sides directed toward the subject.  The silk fabric fuses the glare.  The backdrops vary and are art paper, etc that I easily change out depending on scene.  My camera is a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2 set on a tripod.

Ah yes, a light box! I have made one of those but I was not so successful. Even with 4 clip lights I felt like I was not getting enough light or something. I think I will set it up again and try to figure out where I went wrong.
I went to your website and was so excited to find you did a workshop in Portland, Oragon. That is close to me and I could do something like that! If you do another class that close again, I would so be there.
I expect soon, if you are not already, that you will be overwhelmed with people asking questions, talking with you and just plain loving your art. So I just want to let you know that I really do appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge where you can. Thank you, it is incredibly kind and wonderful of you!

Yes, do try again and add more lamps or increase the lumens.  I try to use the Ottlight bulbs or CREE led.  Some lamps are rather expensive, but I have also shot pics with regular Reveal 40-75 watts.  I have gotten used to the questions over the years and try to share when I can.  I do have a few trade secrets, however, that I keep close to the vest and do not share in my tuts or classes >wink<.  I figure that I earned that right thru trial and error, and truthfully, experience is the best teacher if one wants to create their own furred and feathered animals.
