Indeed and no problem! Things like that make me wanna work more in traditional medium. I'm already doing it, but my skill there is behind my digital art level LOL. Gotta keep at it I guess.

And then I'm absolutely hopeless at digital, so it's swings and roundabouts

Haha fair enough. It's probably because we spend more time on our own medium than versa visa.

Hi! This is an amazing painting. You have used a lovely wet in wet technique and the way you have captured the sunlight with the shadows from the trees is really skilled and difficult. I also love the light blue tones in parts of the painting, which makes it lighter/airy. It's a true masterpiece!

peet In reply to NeoNative [2016-03-10 10:21:06 +0000 UTC]

Ah, that's very kind of you to say, but the word masterpiece always makes me feel nervous Still, thank you so much. There were only three colours used in this piece, a mixture of Payne's Grey, Burnt Sienna and a tiny touch of Manganese Blue Hue for the slightly lighter tones you discern

NeoNative In reply to peet [2016-03-10 17:57:16 +0000 UTC]

It was my pleasure! You shouldn't be nervous. You have created something really beautiful - be proud!! Thanks for telling me about the colors you used. Payne's Grey is a really great color. It's fantastic that you have managed to create this with only this combination of three colors. Take care and keep it up!

peet In reply to NeoNative [2016-03-12 14:47:57 +0000 UTC]

Aw, well thanks again. Yes, Payne's Grey is one of the most useful colours - I use it all the time, and usually have more than one tube to hand at all times You take care too!

NeoNative In reply to peet [2016-03-12 19:05:37 +0000 UTC]

I agree! I've started to use Payne's for portraits to. I like how it flows on wet paper.

Payne's is one of the best, too, for mixing colours. I use it loads

These woods certainly look gloomy! I love the limited (yet subtly present) colour palette. I also love the lightning effect you've used on the fog that lits up through the scene; it gives a bit of an eerie and ominous atmosphere. Good job!

Glad you like Sometimes monotone can be really fun, and much simpler! Also, yes, this is meant to be quite eerie as it's the 'Mordor' of the children's book

Great work! I love photographs that show fog among trees lit from a low sun, and you've captured exactly the effect that fascinates me about them. In this case, due to the lack of colour, it's a bit eerie, but nonetheless beautiful.

Thank you so much Qitian. I love this effect too, so I'm glad you think I capture it. And yes it's eerie - this is the abode of the main antagonist of the story, so it's meant to be
