Description
With the exception of Orange River on the border to South Africa and some rivers in the North, all the other rivers of Namibia are ephemeral. That is also true for the biggest of them, the Fish river, especially after the construction of several dams. During the rainy season there is usually at least a little bit of water, like on this picture taken in Mariental. During wetter times of the past, Fish River must have been quite a mighty torrent, as it was able to cut the second biggest canyon after Grand Canyon into the rocks of southern Namibia.
