Description A lot of people has been asking me this all over different spectrum of social media, so here it is (sorry, I have a LOT @_@;; ):

Here’s a list of my tools:

Sketchbooks and Watercolour paper I have used (not all are shown) :

Paint (from left to right):

Paint Brushes (from top to bottom):

  • Hwahong (Korean brand, bought in China)
  • Currys  (local store brand from Toronto)
  • Phoenix (bought in China)
  • Black Gold by Dynasty  | Amazon.ca  (US brand)
  • Yinghua flat brush (bought in China)
  • + Tooth-brush to flick on paint

*I use sizes from 1-5 round brush (thin tip), and 1/3 flat brush

Pens and Pencils (from top to bottom):

*I use 2H, 2B, 4B and 8B pencils

Gold ink/powder (bottled):

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I tried to put as many links as I could on sites i trust, but I bought a lot of these from local art stores cause I love art-supply shopping at stores. I didn’t buy all of these at once though, i collected them slowly over the years .  Different artists prefer different brands and tools so it’s better to experiment slowly to see what suits your needs best. Hope this helps somewhat
I hope it's okay to ask a question here but i was wondering: How do you keep the paper so straight after using watercolors?
Is the brush pen what you use to ink ur work prior to watercolor? Cuz I ink my work then desire to watercolor after and each pen I've used bleeds even after a few months after being ink'd...
Or is that not what you do? Lol
Curious!
I very much enjoy see all your tool layer out with your piece, not just for the useful information of them but to see just for it's self. It is very beautiful.
Everyone needs an old tooth brush in their kit [and some white gouache]
I have been using paint tubes for as long as I can remember and am now going to get a field set but WOW trying to find one within budget is not easy and most of them seem to be plastic thee days [not the tin cases]
You seem to have got a lot of use out of yours so I will give it a try
You have inspired me to get back into watercolour, thanks.
Hi, I saw your time-lapse video and I was wondering what do you use to make the hightlights. On white like in the nose and light blue on the hair. I only use normal Van Gogh brand watercolors and I'm still starting to learn it, but I love it. Your videos are so useful, as you putting there your tools. I also love the way you made the constellations, wow. If you can't answer, it's ok I hope you recover, stay strong
There's something really inspiring about seeing an artists' tools of trade. Like, one day, if you keep working at it, you'll have your own preferred art supplies that you've collected through the years.
i know what you mean about supply shopping in a physical store. It's almost a hedonistic experience. the smell of paint, the feel of different papers between one's fingers, and an entire universe of color pencils just within reach.
👍: 0 ⏩: 0
Angie-TheCat [2016-04-09 13:20:16 +0000 UTC]
yep~ art supply shopping in stores is fantastic, it always gets over way to fast for me and my budget is a bit too tight with my mom around, pretty sure she doesn't care what she is paying for paper and brushes but whenever she is with me she gets instinctively nitpicky about the cost of supplies ;V; it would be easier to just give me money and leave me to wander the store
I feel my way through practically ever drawing surface in the shop .-. and all the brushes and standing there comparing everything and resisting the urge to bag the whole store...yep that's my art supply shopping in a nutshell~
OH THANK YOU SO MUCH. I LOVE your work so much. I'm subscribed to your channel on youtube as well. I'm always trying to do watercolours like you do but you're just so good. I followed your method for one of my other pieces and the dimensions came out so well in the colours. I used only like 3 colours on this painting but I used different strengths after laying down a base colour and it looks like it's 3d which is pretty cool
