the series

EEEEWWWW, it hurts my eyes ;___;

Don't know if you know, but The Witcher as a tv series is seen in Poland as... well, a piece of crap xD A joke almost.

shhhhh
it's still better than all the croatian series ever made together xD
and I may or may not like trashy tv shows xD

Yoooo, trashy, silly-looking shows and movies are the best ( and apparently the movie channels in my area support that idea, which I am thankful for, because else I'd have never seen some real good stuff they don't usually show in cinemas or on national television ). I think these days we have become too spoiled with Hollywood superdupermega CGI movie stuff to appreciate anything else

thank you!Β
I have to say I'd pick low budget shows like Doctor who and Farscape any day over some way over the top CGI bullshit which takes over the show and plot becomes nonexistent
no matter how awesome Pacific Rim was, movies and shows with less budget are still gonna have that one charm with actors that try more, people that have to prepare the whole stage everything actually BEING there
...not like the new Hobbit which is 95% cgi, the remaining 5% are the actors >.>

Duuude, when I was little, I could watch any newly-made horror movie with those CGI monsters and stuff. Now, The Tales from the Crypt, though... that one scared the shit out of me, just because it was real. The Cryptkeeper and the monster Viys ( from Russian movie with the same title ) were very often guests in my nightmares. The overly computer-animated monsters from American movies? Not at all
It's also one of the reasons I am so nostalgic for movies out of the USSR period, especially fairy tales and fantasy. Most of them had considerably low budget, but the results are sill amazing, because the actors were trying their hardest. And the settings are almost 100% real, too

oh yes! the original Fun House horror still haunts me xD
there's just something about horrible masks in those movies that indeed made the actors give moreΒ
tho I can't say that newer movies don't have any good actors, some do, some are amazing, but each have pros and cons in different parts

LadyTrolls-lair In reply to Raenyras [2014-03-23 01:00:52 +0000 UTC]

Maybe it's the fact that the monsters and other things are present on the set, so it's easier to pretend you are fighting it or are afraid etc., even if it's just a dummy, because it's a real thing, not a dude in green payamas.
Yes, and it's nice to see a movie every now and then that actually has both good special effects and actors, because I somehow mostly only run into ones that have either the one or the other when going to the cinema ( all movie trailers' fault, tbh ).

yes!Β
I find it so ridiculous for the new hobbit when they show behind the scenes and there's just the green room with sir Ian in it and a few stands that represent the dwarves where they'll add them in additionally...how does an actor even deal with that? XD

ah yes..tho I have to say I was happily surprised with the Ronin 47, they actually had so many details historically correct, from the copper chainmaille to the brittleness of their katanas <3Β
tho the new 300 was not as good as the first one :/ it was cool, but not as epic

In the behind the scenes of The Golden Compass, Nicole Kidman was talking about the miming classes where you have to pretend you are doing something with items that are not actually there and how most actors skip them because they rely on their talent. I suppose that's how he does such a good job. Talent and work, work, work.
Me myself - I'd go crazy

I don't think the new 300 has even reached Latvian cinemas yet We've got 'Vys' now, which I'm dying to see just for the sakes of seeing how they have made the creatures, the costumes and the scenery... and also to face an old childhood fear of mine :U
