Even though he/she is from Fire Emblem, Byleth (and possibly Edelgard von Hresvelg, the most popular Lord character in Three Houses) could still work well in Smash because the Sword of the Creator is a unique and interesting weapon.

He did say he was gonna work on putting in more DLC fighters since this will be the only chance to have this many characters in one smash bros game. Right?

The Sword of the Creator (which, if Iβm correct, is a magic-type sword) is a unique sword because in Three Houses, it can attack an enemy that is two spaces away or diagonal from Byleth (similar to how Magic and Bows work in FE). If Byleth were in Smash, he/she may have a moveset unique to him/her that no other Smasher from FE would have.
Also, if Edelgard von Hresvelg were to be in Smash, she wouldnβt be a sword user since she primarily fights with an axe. She could use Aymr, her personal weapon in the Black Eagles route.
