Super engines to fire. I love 80080 at ELR.
Not easy to drive backwards as the seat doesn't swivel but that is probably the only downside to the loco

That's a fairly minor problem; apart from that the 4MTs look like pretty useful engines for most heritage railways. Have you been in the footplate crew then?

Yes. I am Passed Cleaner at ELR and so it means I can go out and fire on the engines on my own. I also am a fireman at Ribble Steam Railway where I have started training to be a driver. We have 80080 at ELR and she is a beast. They are great locos to work on. Have been on it when we have taken 8 coaches and I know she has done 9 for a football special too.

Congratulations--it's great to meet people who work on the railways! Are the ELR and Ribble Steam Railway pretty close together then? Also if you want to check out my gallery I've seen a few other 2-6-4 tank engines: the Lakeside & Haverthwaite's Fairburn tank, the NRM's Stanier tank, and the Oigawa Railway's C10 and pair of C11s over in Japan.

They are about 20 miles apart from each other. Still RSR is 70 miles from me and ELR 90 so I do a bit of travelling to get there.
Irony being that Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway is only 12 from where I live!!! I have fired one of the Fairburns many years ago, under instruction. Would love to have a do on one again. I will have a browse through your gallery today.
