Mikayla found herself signing up for the soonest competition she could find. A sense of needing to do something, the need to leave home and travel, the need to keep showing, overwhelmed her. She'd worked months just focusing on dressage and training the black waler stallion to be handler acceptable and rideable for an experienced rider. They'd only just gotten to lunging with the saddle, when she'd heard of Crimson Meadow hosting an event for all horses. The day she arrived was the day before the dressage competition. She'd opted out of bringing Niribi since the mare had recently gone through several more competitions than Talal.

Speaking of Talal, he'd been a bit moodier than his average 'gelding'-like behavior. He'd been almost reluctant to come to her in the pasture. She hadn't had much time to ride him, and she could only guess he was having issues adjusting to the young stallion who'd taken the pasture between his and his half brother. She supposed that trying to find a jumping competition was her attempt to apologize to the roan stud for his lack of hard work recently. He loved new challenges and she hadn't had the time to provide him with them.

The day of the competition, the weather was cloudy. She could only suppose that it would be raining sometime soon; if not today then one of the next two days. Despite the grey clouds hanging over them, the weather was warm leaving her wanting for the cool weather back home as the leaves began to hint at changing colors. They checked over the jumps a few moments as the judges finalized the previous rider's score. She'd seen fiercer competition from the Australian Olympics, but that didn't mean they couldn't possibly have a bad day. The roan stallion was eager beneath her, and burst into an extended canter when the bell rang. She had to rein him in before they approached the first trial. It was all about finesse, speed, and not having any bars fall on them; one of which Talal was having issues with. She wanted to give him his head, but despite the long warm up they'd gone through he was still bursting with energy.

Hopefully it wouldn't be their downfall.
