as per a request and my muse I'm doing another one of these.

quotes and characters are from the book The King of Attolia by Meghan Whalen Turner

top: pg. 119 "Eugenides waved his hand and said airily, "Build a bridge."

pg. 140 "Hugely fat, she was wrapped in a peplos of livid green that seemed to glow with its own light against the dark interior behind her. Her meaty fingers twitched the paper out of the king's hand. She opened it, and without even looking at it, she tore it in half. Still cold, she handed one half back to the king... 'Your answer,' said the priestess."

pg. 197 "'I would see My Lord Attolis,' she demanded angrily.... 'I am here,' he had answered, stepping into the doorway wearing a nightshirt and robe, rumpled and pale, but resolute... He'd leaned against the doorway for support"

This is Relius after the King has him arrested and pardoned; no exact scene.

pg. 176 "'I'm sorry if I starled you," said Attolia softly.
'You didn't startle me,' said Eugenides. 'You scared the hell out of me.'
Attolia's lips pressed together. 'You needn't admit it out loud,' she reproved him.
'Hard to deny it,' Eugenides answered. Costis could hear him smile."

I always imagined that the Oracle was still half in light and never completely revealed when she approaches Gen. And I love the thoughts going through Costis's head during that part: should i let the priestess throw the king off of the temple hill or help the king desecrate the temple? haha
