read before u comment.......... please... if u can

alright, so i said i would dig deeper into my Laplandish Pinocchio... i lied, i just did
yeahhhhhh

and over the past few days, i came up with a twisted weird unrealistic peice of madness you once knew as the Adventures of Pinocchio

and in every adaption i have read, or seen, i have noteced no one really pays attention to the woodcutter at all. So i made my woodcutter young and elaborate, i hope, basing him off a photo by John Florea i really like

I named him Gershom, close enough to "Gepeto" (nope) was a former artisan, and an Auschwitz-Birkenau camp survivor, fresh out of the war, and severe mental trauma after enduring what he had been through. After being liberated, and going through the physical and psychological treatments, and former prisoners start being transported to Palestine (to be Israel) and the U.S, he makes his own way else ware, were he thought he couldnt be reminded of what he had just been through, and makes his way as northern and as far as Lapland-Finnland. Which he thought was perfect, it was empty, it was cold, it was were no one could find him and hurt him. And he began to live in isolation in a little rickety cottage, and seemed to obsessively make things. He constantly carved and painted and drew and sewed, and in a years time his cottage seemed to be filled with all sorts of stuff, and he seemed to be afraid if he stopped making things, he would breakdown thinking about what had happened to him in the past few years.
He made Pinocchio in the middle of the night, being woken up from some rather grizzly nightmares, and finishing the puppet when starting to have a bit of an anxiety attack when realizing his hands were beginning to sting from working so often, and worrying he wouldn't be able to anymore soon.
His attack worsened when the puppet he had created seemed to reach for his shoulders by itself as if in a crude attempt to calm him.
Like anybody it scarred the living daylights out of him.

Over the next year, Gershom taught his creation how to walk, speak, crochet, etc... And taking care of this wooden boy he had made became his healing system, and loved the puppet like a little brother, and eventually a son, same went for the puppet. The problem with Pinocchio was his childlike ignorance, especially to Gershom's emotional episodes. (and being curious about the number tattooed to his arm, as drawn)

But of course, it wouldn't be much of a Pinocchio adaption if he didnt tend to get intotrouble some how and be seperated from his father, and suffering.... quite a bit, and learning quite a bit, more about how the world actually is here.

Poor Gershom has to endure more suffering during that time though, without that one last thing that gave him a little bit of joy.

so there we have our very unstable and scarred woodcarver, and our ignorant and tiny Pinocchio... need to change his name around for these special adaption reasons....
I like Gershom a lot, he has a long neck...
he's really hard to draw too, believe me

and yes, the photoshopped-color people in costume up there are representations of the fox and the cat from the original

i dont feel like typing anymore, ahh, tired, hopefully ill get more into it later

hope u like

Still think your design is very beautiful! I would love to work on it if it was an animated movie.

I was reading the original story of Pinocchio again lately and now reading and seeing your Version of this combined with an Auschwitz backstory it is sort of a creepy but also interesting twist...just wow!
And your artwork is amazing, very impressive version of Pinocchio here!

I like this adaptation idea! Pinocchios' legs I love because it's so improbable for him to be without strings to hold him up. I want this as a film please!
