Actually, that's kind of a good thing. It means they're healthy. Fish with white spots means they have Ichthyophthirius multifiliis, or the freshwater white spot disease. Each white spot they have is an encysted parasite, meaning it's a parasite residing inside of a cyst. If not controlled, the disease is always fatal to the fish.
It can be controlled, although the cost for the chemicals used to kill off the parasites, not to mention the expenses of the fish that were already killed by the disease.

It's a compression problem, dear, all the files uploaded on DA get compressed horribly. Tumblr has a better compression system, the worst is, of course, Facebook.

One thing you might wanna do is, after you save for the web in photoshop, open your jpeg file and do a round of levels, make it more vibrant. So when DA flattens it for you it still won't be as washed out, but closer to what you initially had in mind.
