PersonalityKaleb is a child constantly wrought with anxiety, never knowing more than a heartbeat of peace of mind. All but imprisoned within his own mind by intense paranoia, Kaleb has become nearly entirely dependent on the adults around him. He has no foolish bouts of childish bravery, nor does he show signs of willing independence. Whereas most children are stricken by wanderlust at his age, Kaleb remains his happiest in the shadows of his guardians. The boy is only seen alone when circumstances make it impossible for him to be otherwise, and is undeniably distraught during these times. So desperate for company and direction, Kaleb would run into the arms of complete strangers if given no other option.

Though he may cling to strangers in times of great need, the child is not one to put trust in others. He takes no one at face value - never confronting them, but also never truly believing the words they say. He is prepared to abandon new friendships within a heartbeat, and suspects nearly everyone of having hidden motives. Paranoia keeps him distant from most people, and he has difficulty forming strong bonds with others because of it. Kaleb, though distrusting, is not a shy child. There is no lesson he forgets, nor interaction he does not take note of. He learns from watching, and repeating, and is prone to applying what he’s seen others do into his own life. This can lead to him appearing socially inept at times - and the prince doesn’t seem to mind.

Alec took Rhys, a noble from a different house, as his wife, and the kingdom briefly settled into blissful monotony.

His first bastard was born in Alec’s younger years. The kingdom was stunned by his birth, and all awaited Rhys’ reaction. But she had none publically, and the child was taken into the royal house. They, and the many illegitimate that soon followed them, were denied the Northare name. Alec took many lovers, bore many children, and generally went wildly unpunished. This did not keep him from attempting to keep the births quiet, and though it was worth absolutely nothing, it seemed he took no pleasure in his affairs. Rumors of Rhys being barren begun to spread like wildfire, and each new child acted as tinder.

Aleczander, though wildly successful as a leader, became something of a joke to many. His House was undoubtedly displeased with him, and there were more than just a few conversations of stripping away his last name.

The melodrama would soon give way to serious threats. A small band of rogues turned up on the kingdom’s doorstep, demanding to speak with the king. During their meeting, they advised Alec to flee his country now, for they’d soon take it from him. Though confused by the threat, the king dismissed both the rogues and their words. He’d come to regret it soon after, when the kingdom was plunged into chaos as the strangers returned with an army that rivaled Morspire’s in both skill, and size.

They fought for many long and bloody months and within the terrors - Rhys bore a son.

[ Chapter One ] "Bloodline"
The war was lost long before Kaleb was born. Some thought the war to be Alec’s punishment, and Kaleb did little to quell the rumors. The wild eyed, paranoid prince was seen as a slight from the gods, displeased with the unfaithful king. Alec was deaf to whispers, loving his only child born into wedlock more than he’d loved any one thing prior.

He loved Kaleb more than he loved Morspire, and it was only weeks after the prince’s birth that he called for a retreat. Very few thought it a coincidence, and more than a few were displeased. Some remained in the lands, submitting to the new rulers. Others refused to surrender, and fought until the bitter end. Aleczander himself was injured gravely during the retreat, and those who successfully fled were few in number.

Just a shadow of their former empire, the Morspire people wandered for many months in an attempt to put distance between themselves and the rogues, as well as find themselves a suitable home. Alec’s condition decreased steadily, until he was hardly alive at all. In seeing his weakness, his most trusted advisor created an opportunity for themselves. Alec was a shit leader, in their eyes, and his children were just as unfit for the crown. They’d watched Alec whore around for years, and their contempt festered like a rotten wound. It bubbled over when the king abandoned their homelands and left them to the wild dogs. The Chancellor loved Morspire too much to watch it fall into the incapable hands of a child.

So they decided to kill the heir.

Kaleb was saved only by a handmaiden, one who overheard the Chancellor's plans and sought to save the young boy. She told the boy to run.

And he did.

Kaleb remained on his own for many weeks, and would have surely perished had a childless man not stumbled upon him, and taken him in.

Kaleb has a plotline regarding his old pack! It is open for both new and current members!
