Description EDIT: Please ZOOM; especially if there appears to be a black background.
If so, this background will disappear upon zooming. .. It's not supposed to be there in the first place.
She looks better on a white background anyway.

Started as a sketch to quickly design a random maid uniform, turned into the most extensive shadow experiment I've done.
At least it delivered results I can live with.

.. At best, it's the shading style I'll be using for a long, long time.

Progress: [link]

PS: I know how her face is centered in one point -- the wrong point -- and yes, that was on purpose. I can draw faces realistically too ([link] ) but that's just boring.

Second-to-last Third-to-last piece of fanart I plan to do for quite a while.

Y-yes, but ... Knicks the girl pretty sad ... The impression is that it is doomed to be servants forever ... Cool painted and very beautiful! Especially touched by her expression!

Interesting shading technique. I was looking at your progress picture and you did a good job with adding volume to the line art - the clothes especially.

No problem. I think you did really well with the clothes but the shading overall could be more defined especially on the skin. On several areas it would benefit from being darker.

One thing I notice is that the shades tend to be one tone. I would suggest experimenting with using more than one tone of shading to add depth and variety. In this case, her hairline, upper neck, and upper arms would be good places to try a darker tone since they would be places that would be darker when lit from above.

Made a mental note.
In fact, might as well try it out right away, since I'm almost at the shading part on my latest piece.

Thanks, I guess.

I usually draft my first description and edit it several times at later moments, though, so I would've come across the error on my own too.
Since you can't edit comments, I tend to read comments again before posting. I like not having to do that to descriptions.
