This Ponyo creation really brings out the moment right out of the paper. It has the perfect amount of anime and real life paint to make it look like a piece off the movie its self. I do like the way Ponyo's arms fade away in the liquid water like the other Critique said. It really brings out the fact Ponyo is above water that way.

(P.S) If I were a person looking for an anime designer you would be my first pick. Keep up the great art work! Its turning out to be amazing! Remember, practice makes perfect!

Even though we all (Miyazaki fans or just Ponyo fans) know this exact moment and screenshot, I believe you managed to show it in a new different, amazing way.
It is somehow touching for me, I must say.
It is not always easy to work with brushes and colours, they just do what they want. e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b… " width="15" height="15" alt="" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=" (Big Grin)"/>
But you sure have the extraordinary skill to tame them. Water is one of the hardest things to paint/draw, especially in a style simplified enough to match Miyazaki's design.
But with your skills? In this painting?

BRAVO.

PS: I love it, I do, but maybe there's a little detail my eyes just had to concentrate on for a while. I am talking about the area under the bubble / beneath the water. It seems that her dress and hair kept the colour as outside and it should be a bit brighter there.
But then again, maybe the photo didn't exactly catch it and it is there, just not really visible.
But even though, you said that it is a sneak peak of something you are working on. So I believe you are going to have it all handled just astonishingly when you are done with it.

What I love and admire is how her arms and shades slowly disappear into the flow.

PPS: Gladly adding you into my watchlist and getting forward to another great pieces of art like this one.

(I am not native speaker, so I am very sorry to all of you if I am somehow violating your language.)

Hey! Thank you so much for your critique, watch and all! I really do appreciate it when someone really has time to write longer critique. That’s because those make you notice things which you probably wouldn't see in your own work otherwise.

What you said about color of her hair and dress behind the bubble, the color actually changes, the photo just doesn't show it correctly because of the light in which I had to take the photo.. I hope that when I get this painting ready I could scan it so all the details would be seen a bit better.

I Love the movie Ponyo! My little brother does to because of the bright animation colors. Great Job!

Thank you! Actually I didn’t use any copics here, only watercolors, some white masking ink and black marker.

Thanks! It’s actually pretty easy to do, just takes lots of patience. It’s all about layers and layers of light colors and the most time consuming part is to let the paper dry properly between layers.
