Description
The Sally Lightfoot crab (Grapsus Grapsus), also known as the red rock crab, can be found on the western coasts of South and Central Americas, as well as the islands just of their coasts.
The crab carapace is up to 12cm in length. They're omnivorous, with a range of food from algae, other crabs, worms, snails to sea lion placentas. They're quite energetic and interesting to watch. When they're young, the have a black or dark brown colouring, in order to camouflage with the lava rocks on the coast. When they grow to adult form, they can be a mix of red, pink, brown, yellow and blue.
