For Childhood memories fanart contest fav.me/d4djgonThe most important part of anyone's personality is their childhood and now they decide to reflect on their past. Their past is linked to who they've become.
Some time before the massacre.
Itachi suffering a pang of his disease, Mikoto nursing him, Sasuke being curious.
...Until Fugaku arrives, asking:
- Why are you still coddling him, Mikoto? He's a shinobi, not a helpless child. Stop it.
Perhaps, these were Itachi's last memories of his mother being loving and caring...

I hever liked Fugaku much.Sometimes I think Itachi had another reason to kill his parents beside the ultimate one.Fugako never seemed to show much affection to his kids despite Mikoto`s assurance he talks only about Sasuke.

Its so sad! But i don't think so Fugaku was that cruel. Remember when he pleaded with the Uchiha elders to excuse Itachi because he was tired of his ANBU duties. he was a hard nut but i think he cared about his sons especially Itachi!

Trying my best not to get in the midst of the rally on my daily travels around the city, but they are even less predictable than the weather...
Mikoto's whole situation breaks my heart as well
How can she let go of her beloved son and watch him silently suffering - while being unable to provide help any mother is craving to provide?
That's what really troubles me - her being torn apart between the pain of seeing her child sick and the necessity to obey the head of the clan no matter what the circumstances are...

Because me myself couldn't find any suitable words to describe the situation when a mother is not allowed to ease the pain of her child, and has to watch him suffering instead.
Of the plethora of possible punishments (though for what crimes did Mikoto earn them?) this one freaks me out incredibly

That is a big part of your art, it seems to me, which is why I find it oh-so-very amazing. Not only have you got the technical parts of a picture down, but also a unique signature to it that brings it to life. And that, my friend, is true art.

Omg , it's so shocking ...I'm speechless .. The way you've described the characters and the situation fit exactly with the particular family Itachi has lived ..A strong father who was clan's head , his hard youth as a young ANBU captain (I show you an other deep piece about of Itachi as a very young captain of ANBU squad, made by beloved friend Niv [link] ) ..The extreme conditions of Itachi's life makes me feel always so stunned emotionally ... What I feel for that boy is a particular feeling mixed of sorrow and anger because I know that in this world there are really boys who live in his conditions and I think always to their MOTHERS ...How many bloody tears they are crying,how much is the weight of the sorrow they feel......
I'm so astonished by this masterpiece my dear friend , I'm fallen completely into the scene emotionally , I feel so moved 
I want to find the time to draw something about childhood memories of Itachi , later I will check and read about the contest ..........I would like that a friend of mine will participate to this contest......

I myself am feeling very uneasy about the ambiguous situation I drew here:
- on one hand Fugaku is definitely a jerk and so on - forbidding the mother of his son to ease his pain, making both of them suffer...
- but on the other hand he put all his (and clan's) hopes in Itachi and I think, in some twisted sense, it pains him to see his son like this and he may be foolishly thinking it's because of mother's love Itachi suffers the disease and can't get over it himself...
Yes, I can entirely believe Fugaku may have acted like this _for good intentions_!!
Or rather, he was plain SCARED to see his aspiring hero of a son in a condition like this...
This leaves Mikoto, the MOTHER in front of the most horrible choice I can envision right now - to let her beloved boy suffer (and WATCH him suffering, being UNABLE to help a thing, may be even forbidden to smile at him, to hug him and talk to him!!
Who knows what a clan can imagine for keeping a mother away from her child...)
- or to be chastised by the clan in case she disobeys her husband; which may further lead to her being separated not only from Itachi ("Your mother spoils you"); but from Sasuke as well, meaning instead of losing only one son she will have lost both of her children.
And because of what??! Simply because she was craving to take their pain away.
This, my dear friend, is what freaks the living daylights out of me - the choice between the children, both of whom she loves equally and ardently
Yes, I hope we'll learn the truth in the years to come 
(Which means we still have some time to wait and make up more theories and arts

Mikoto is only a "married" Uchiha, but maybe exactly beacuse of THAT she isnΒ΄t that typical Uchiha-ish jerk-like...itΒ΄s a blood-line disease indeed.
