Description

I had a quandary of what to paint next, so I left it to a poll. And then there was a four-way tie. And then I did another poll, so me watchers could pick a random number. 7 was the one picked most, so I painted a Julia butterfly, a lovely inhabitant of the American South. It's on a magnolia flower. I'm so proud~ (My mom really likes this one~ )

Watercolors as usual~ I am selling this piece for a round $20.00 USD--if you're interested note me and we'll talk about where to send it~

hello, dear!

This is a splendid painting! I love the detailing and the colors of the butterfly and the flower especially the fades of colors on the butterfly's wings.

Vision: The image is clear and the idea is clear. It's a beautiful painting of a gorgeous butterfly perched on a flower. I think it's simple, and I think it's quite lovely.

Originality: I love the way you've executed this piece. I love the line work on the wings and the alternating color shades. I'm not sure how original a butterfly and a flower painting is considered to be, but I think your execution is original. I've never seen anything like the vein work on the leaves or the alternations on the butterfly.

Technique: Your technique is flawless. The leaves have me speechless; they look so realistic! The only thing I'm not sure about is the butterfly's eyes. They don't seem to be as strongly executed as the rest of the painting. I also like your choice of a solid background, though I do wish the paint was blended more smoothly. It almost looks as if it didn't dry properly or got rained on. Especially with the edges of the leaves bleeding into the brown background.

Impact: I adore this piece! I loved it the moment I saw it, and I think this piece has a strong impact. The colors catch the eye, and then the painting itself is like a breath of fresh air. Job well done!

I really love this painting. I hope to see more of your paintings in the future! (:
