UPDATE, December 14th, 2014: I changed the proportions and layout a bit so it could potentially work better as an actual poster.----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have an idea for a comic series; specifically, an adaptation of a truly awesome pony fanfiction, which is a G1-G4 crossover. www.fimfiction.net/story/71660…
As an 80s baby, I retain a certain nostalgic attachment to the old, original ponies, even though the writing and characterization for that program truly can’t compare to the new G4. G1 still has its charm for me.
And so, here you have some of my favorite G1 ponies, drawn in something of a G4/G1 hybrid style. Or at least, that’s what I was going for. I hope you like them. I’d never realized before doing this character sheet, just how much “pink” dominates these ponies’ color schemes. XD
More character sheets relating to this personal project of mine are to come. I can’t say when I will be able to truly get started on the comic in earnest, as I am somewhat divided in my activities and responsibilities right now. Hopefully, not too long from now...

UPDATE: In response to a couple of comments, I have edited Button's caption a bit to give her a little more character. I have also added the "wings" to the hearts of Heart Throb's cutie mark. The "wingless" version was something I observed in a screen shot of the show, but apparently that must have been an animation error, as most other sources indicate that the hearts have wings. Just thought that was noteworthy.
My Little Pony, Friendship is Magic, and its style of illustration, are the creations of Lauren Faust.

You have done a great job redrawing the Generation One My Little Pony characters. I think this is what they will look like in My Little Pony generation 5. I loved My Little Pony as a kid. I even enjoyed the first move (made in 1986, the year I was born) and I have the DVD. I miss the original style, though they newer version looked amazing. Now that My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic has come to an end, it's time to bring those ponies back. If they made a My Little Pony Generation 5, this is the style.

I may be a little bit bias due to my love for G1 ponies, however this piece of art is by far my favourite pony fact sheet. It is informative, beautifully drawn and it really did bring back good memories.
I have very few negative looks on your work, only because Buttons and Wind Whistler have kind of awkward muzzles compared to the rest, but hey, nobody's perfect.
My personal favourite character designs are Posey and Shady because of their emotions. I think, I suppose many in the comments will agree, that you captured their emotions to their personality very well.
So all in all a brilliant work and I truly hope to see more G1 ponies!!!

I was actually quite proud of Wind Whistler's snout. I was trying to make it (slightly) more anatomically accurate to reality, while maintaining adherence to the essential show style.

I think that this is an amazing piece of artwork!
I love your style and the poses you have given them, it makes the look unique
Also the fact that you have provided information about the ponies and enlarged the cutie marks is excellent!
I especially like the way you have drawn posey to show that fluttershy was based off of posey, you can definitely see that

The way I see Gen 1 and Gen 4, it's almost as if they're related. FIM sure gets a lot of inspiration from the original. I mostly see the mane six as descendants of the old ponies they're based on. Like great great great granddaughters. I always thought the jewel eyed ponies were beuatiful and that they inspired the crystal ponies. It would be something if they add Megan to the show. Not sure about her siblings though. It was mostly Megan. Blast from the past. Cool.

Wait, what IS the Twinkle Eyed Ponies' tragic past? Never heard of it <0.0> And G1 has nowhere near as much pink as other gens, aside from the show, it actually seems to favour ponies who are lavender and blue

The Twinkle-Eyed (or Jewel-Eyed) ponies were originally enslaved to the Jewel Wizard, who forced them to mine for gems in dark caves. They spent so long toiling in the darkness that they went blind.
After the original Applejack liberated them, by defeating the Jewel Wizard, the ponies' eyes became infused with jewels, which magically restored their eyesight. But they would be "Twinkle-Eyed" for the rest of their lives, as a reminder of their former enslavement.
