So, not gonna lie, I've come to love Hound so much more because of you. Why I never appreciated him before, I'll never know. And this picture just sealed the deal, just for being so... innocent, I suppose.

Let me just say that my name is also "Lauren" and I am very fond of Hound too! He's absolutely adorable in the Calvin and Hobbes style :3

blistering barnacles !
vino, i would gladly take the blame for work/play of this caliber. this is excellent. not only are you and Hound way too cute, but as someone said earlier, you've really captured something about bill waterson's style here.
i also voraciously chewed through the calvin and hobbes collections when i was a kid -- and it's a strip that aged really well. reading a few more recently felt both bittersweet & wistful.
you know, i was thinking about what you said in sort of agreeing that MIA was C&H-esque... except that you had a crush on your Hobbes. in childhood boy/girl best-friendships, there's the proto-form of a crush or romantic relation, no? i mean, going the other way this time, doesn't one's longer term girlfriend/boyfriend more or less become best friend as well ?
in any case, you rocked the party with this one.

Whoa, long comment!
But yeah, Calvin and Hobbes was an awesome strip, and if I knew where my compilations were, I'd still be reading them several times a year.
in childhood boy/girl best-friendships, there's the proto-form of a crush or romantic relation, no?
Good point there. I'm sure Freud would be all over the subject, but from personal experience (all my friends were boys in early elementary school) you're all too right. xD You'd never know it at the time, but in retrospect, some primitive form of crush was there.
And let's hope that long term relationships become best friendships!
I was totally going to say something else, but I forgot. Damn.

This is the sweetest thing I have seen all day, and to top it off, you did a pretty good job of emulating Watterson's style.
Stop being so freakin' talented.

Actually, I take that back... that title's probably better reserved for Beachcomber.

I like Beachcomber as he's so mellow.
Hound is more the outdoor nature guy, living out in the wild.

Yeah, Beachcomber's the hippie, but Hound's the more active nature lover... "Off-roading, anyone?"

Awww.....
God, I love Calvin and Hobbes so much. It was the ONLY comic I would ever pay attention to when I was a kid.
I think I tried to build a Transmogrifier once too...

OH MAN, I KNOW.
Those comics were gold. My english teacher in 7th grade had all the compilations on her bookshelf, and I read them all twice over for that year's silent reading.
