Description Owl gryphons, as it turns out, grow very quickly. When Briggen's peers were still small and weak in their nests, he was nearly as big as his parents and his flight feathers had started growing in. The young gryphon didn't mind. He had been raised with a purpose: to serve Skrekrill and the Queen, and bring honor to his name. The sooner he could start, the better. Needless to say, it wasn't long after he learned to fly before he was put to work. His first mission: retrieve special medicines from Twistoult.

He went at night. Briggen was no coward, but he was inexperienced, and had never sparred with a skilled partner. It would be too risky to fly in when the sun was up, and he was better suited to the nighttime anyhow. He had sensitive ears and excellent night vision.

He soared quietly over the sleeping Twistoult Aerie, scanning ceaselessly for a patrol or guard. There were none. The Twistoult were foolish. With ease, he glided down to a network of caves in a cliffside by the misty rainforest. Spotting one that looked like it might be a shaman's work-cave, he slowed to a stall with a forward beat of his wings and set foot on the straw-covered stone floor. It was the right cave. He hurried forward, and began tying twine around tediously labeled gourds filled with various potions and salves. Then, he slung them around his neck, and retreated from the cave, taking off triumphantly (if a little clumsily) into the night.

Owls really do typically leave the nest a lot earlier than hawks or eagles do. And even when they're in the nest, they're enormous!

That is true that owls leave their nest earlier that a hawk or an eagles. However owls look so mysteious and mejestic when they grow up.
That picture is really good. The eyes of the gryphon are pretty, and the fogin the background makes the mood of the picture seem a little supsenseful.

Briggen's fluffy owl face is adorable, even if he does look seriously intent on completing his task (nice job putting emotion into the bird face without anthropomorphizing much at all). I also like how you've incorporated owl biology into his story; even though he's a gryphon, I prefer gryphons that behave a little bit like you would expect from their bird half.

Teehee, thanks :3 Baby owls are so funny looking. It's like they want to look dignified and solemn, but their fluff renders it impossible.

I think he's also going to fight like an owl. Flip onto his back, hide his feet in his chest fluff, and lash out with his talons like a ninja when the enemy gets too close.
