It's understandable why dA wouldn't black out.
Yes, most of the community is against SOPA but also a huge chunk of the community consists of young teenagers who view dA as their drug and if suddenly they were not allowed on, would probably throw hissy fits.
I think they should have like, made it where people could CHOOSE to have their accounts blacked out and those who choose yes... their account would be shut down without any way to get on it until the black out was over. Then, they'd turn it back on and you'd be able to get on.
And then for those who chose not to shut it down they could go about dA like it's no bodies business.
I personally don't think I could deny myself dA if I knew I had easy access to it.
I am not for SOPA.
But some of the "issues" they are trying to target need to be addressed.
Like piracy and illegal downloading.
At least I think those are things they are trying to tackle... I wouldn't quote myself on this.

Educated discussion on DA? Shame on you for thinking that exists.
Heads up, the black out was to oppose a schedule Capitol Hill discussion about SOPA on the 18th, but then they cancelled that, so websites blacking out are not stuck to do so and the cause is now useless.
PS: Make sure you guys read around before you tell me I'm wrong (because I'm not, and if you battle me I'm just going to embarrass/frustrate you) Too many negatives exist for this to happen. It'll be a threat held over the heads of americans that will never go through.
Stop your silliness internet.

I consider these bills a crime against humanity. No one should have to live with every aspect of their lives being censored. this just screams "government control" more than anything.
I can understand WHY big companies are for this bill, because it's protecting their interests in and out of the country, but these are the same companies that make you sign "Non compete" disclosures in work contracts, which means if you create ANYTHING on their dime, it automatically belongs to them. That's how the "Brats" line of dolls was created. I can't imagine why they would want things like Deviant Art and Tumblr shut down, since that's where their artists go to dump work either of the personal nature or stuff directly from the studio.

Oi, Instead of us being ashamed of DA for not blacking out tomorrow, Why can't we all just stay off DA during the blackout time?

SOPA was shelved not killed, PIPA is effectively the same bill, one was presented to the Senate and the other to the House.

The emergence of the Internet is clearly the greatest technological marvel of our age. It can, and is, used for such a wide range of things and is ever-growing and ever-developing. To take away it's core values and principles would be abhorrent and would severely cripple society as we know it today.

It should pass? If it does, dA will be affected. Congress cant look over one site and block all others.

So whatever happened to 'freedom of media' and 'freedom of speech' if you look at this, it could possibly be going against the constitutional rights, then again I might be thinking ahead again.
