Description And this is why I probably won't do too many full-color comics; I'm not very good at it.

This was going to be the opening for an Abridged Series project that I scrapped, partially because My Little Pony already has about six of those. I did like the joke, though, so I decided to make it a comic.

I think this took me about three hours, which isn't too bad.

My Little Pony and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic are owned by Hasbro and Lauren Faust.

What does "contemplating your navel" even mean? I want to know!

Since they are mammals, and presumably have live births, they would have belly buttons. Β Faust said that they reproduce like normal mammals, and Mrs. Cake did give birth to two live foals.

It's more a joke about the art style than an anatomical query.

All the same, I added this to a new group I've created and if you're willing to have it submitted there, I'd enjoy having it listed on the front page as a Featured art :3 I think it's very iconic as something like said group.

Oddly enough, I think Scootaloo getting a Cutie Mark representing ddep philosophical thought would be pretty interesting. If nothing else, it would probably gaurantee her a high position in Celestia's court of advisors.

Who's cutie mark?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

alexwarlorn In reply to ThousandYearSunrise [2012-11-04 02:56:52 +0000 UTC]

Not a straightjack. It doesn't CONFINE the ponies' identity. It's a mirror. It REFLECTS the pony's identity.

This is why I believe Screwball and Barking Mad didn't ORIGINALLY have insanity cutie marks, but represent their damaged Egos.

One's cutie mark changes to reflect damaged personality... Interesting. It doesn't quite work for Screwball, since Discord didn't change anyone else's cutie marks. This is assuming that Screwball's madness was directly caused by Discord playing with reality, but that's not the point. What's interesting is the idea of a cutie mark changing. And I've got just the right story to go with it.

Oh, you are going to regret giving me ideas.

What I want to see is a pony get a cutie mark in something they enjoy but aren't good at, so they spend their years working really hard to improve and become the best in their field.

I don't know, Sweetie Belle, do you guys have belly buttons?

You're the dictionary here!

Honestly, I've never been that fond of the whole "Sweetie Belle/Apple Bloom is a dictionary" joke. I only mentioned chicken in the title because I believe in including as many jokes as possible in something that's meant to be humorous.

You wouldn't be the first one to be tired of that particular comparison. As far as jokes are concerned, there's always a fine line between a standby and a stinker.

Yeah, I figured. I suspect it's one of those things that everybody is doing because everybody else is doing it.
