Oh, I love the way you create texture in all of your work. I've download some of them (If you don't mind), I want to learn from them

I received three colors as a sample (yellow, blue, red) when I bought my individual watercolor pans.
This was the first time I tried them...and I have them since December last year...I think

I didn't expect something great to come from this one. Because I didn't like the drawing of the face that much. But now the colors helped to improve it.

You got that plastic to behave in a most perfect way.
I do believe it all depends on the exact wetness when applied...not too dry, not too wet. Nice job.

I also think that way, it's the same with salt. Also some colors do react differently too.

I also noticed that when I spread my wrap I get better results then before when I squeezed to make wrinkles. I just didn't understand the meaning, the process of how the wrap should work.   Now I do.

Thank you for the compliment

Yeah, YOU BET....you can also ~ beside trying to pull/spread the wrap (whatever type of plastic), dig
your fingers/nails into it and LIFE it up, to form holes rather than lines. Think I'll send along one of
my favorite painting where I used PW in just a small area, lower right. Hang on.... I got lucky.
Richard
Guess I used it in the sails too....

Wonderful painting...I like the composition, the colors...but I thought it myself...the plastic wrap has had to be used also on the sails. That texture...I wouldn't know what else could form it.
The subtle background and the textures in the front work so harmonious.
I like that blue-green color

What?!

Ok, let's learn...

HOW TO:
Put colors on the paper, like you would make a background, but instead of salt you put plastic wrap (for food) on it. The paper is moderate wet.

Here are some video tutorials from YouTube:

Oh, found some useful videos even for myself

oh yeah I've already seen videos of this technique
I just don't see how to make good use of the texture

Umm...background, dress, hair,...be creative. I used it for the hill on which a tree grows from, now as a cloth for the witch...

TokyoMoonlight In reply to richardcgreen [2016-07-23 12:25:09 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I used the clear wrap for food. Aaaaand!!! I pulled it and manipulated as you told me
It made such a beautiful shape.

After our conversation I took one of my drawings (only the face was done) and added randomly 2 colors (red, blue). I really thought it will just be a test, an experiment with the plastic wrap, because I wasn't happy with my drawing. Then added salt. But then magic happened.
It made everything visible. I knew instantly it's a witch
I took my "meh"   drawing to another level.

I'm sooo proud at this one
Thank you again!
