The fourth illustration in my Frankenstein series. This one has been a LONG time coming. With the exception of a few quick sketches, I have done NO drawing in five years. Finally, after getting the itch to scribble again, I decided to come back to this series. For anyone interested, it goes like this: after years of toying with the idea, I decided to do a series of illustrations based on Mary Shelly's famous, misunderstood creature. I've come up with a story behind these pieces set in a more contemporary setting. A young, depressed, disenfranchised woman goes to stay in her family's cabin deep in the wilderness. While there, she discovers that a giant creature supposedly stalks the mountainside forests.

The idea of having the monster battling a bear had been in my head for ages, so I decided to tackle it. Overall, I'm pleased with it, although I can already see some things I would have done differently. That said, I'm pretty proud considering how rusty I was to start off. There was a moment there where I was really struggling, but it felt amazing to finally feel the flow of it come back. The goal for this one was to up the anti on foliage detail and not cut any corners.
