Contest entry for =eli-stock and =Gracies-Stock contest "Once Upon A Fairytale"Another Mermaid
Just watched 'The Little Mermaid' again yesterday (my favourite Disney film!) and wanted to draw a mermaid.
I put the picture in Mixed Media, as I spent more time drawing than manipulating the photos, so I wouldn't call it a Photomanipulation.

First of all - I like this a lot.
I was just browsing deviations for "mermaid" for inspiration, because I'm in the process of drawing one and my name in fact is Alana. And I am over-obsessed with mermaids. Maybe you won't think this is as much of a freaky coincidence as I do XD
Anyway, I really like this alot-it looks great!

Yeah, haha, I've been waiting for someone to ask, because it's such a cool trick!
In Corel Painter, there's a Distortion tool called 'Marbling Rake', if you use that in one direction on an already shaded area (you won't see results if it's all one colour) and than in another at a 90Β° angle you immediately get scales. You need to play around with it a bit to get good results, but that's the gist of it!
