I love that blur effect, it looks sooo good! I don't even know how you managed to do it with graphite pencils, I'm impressed! Great job!

Thanks!
It's done by just doing very loose edges, blending, and repeating as necessary =]. It's a lot easier with bigger objects rather than tiny details.

Honestly there were a lot of areas I skimped on pretty hard. A lot of motivation issues. I think being sloppy was something that didn't matter a lot though, as part of the atmosphere comes from the fact parts are blurry and hard to tell what you're looking at. So in the end no big deal. I also think that having the image full page instead of just a portrait on paper definitely helps in terms of pulling you in. I'll probably try to do most images full page from now on, or at least black backgrounds rather than white.

well sloppy shading isnt bad, its a technique on its own. just depends on how you use it, and ya black backgrounds are great when there is a lot of cool highlights on the focus of the drawing.

That's an awesome Leshen! I love the contrasts and angle and how powerful and menacing he (it?) looks. The blue streaks are an eye-catching touch.
Β (And they're but a small detail, but the twigs in the background on the left side are really well done!)Β
