Description [ID: A digital drawing of Mystery Girl with green hair and Pearl from Steven Universe wearing her outfit from the episode “Last One Out of Beach City” in profile. Mystery Girl looks at Pearl, smiling with softness in her eyes. Their noses touch. They’re both blushing and holding each other. Pearl’s eye is black with a star shine in it. End ID]

Here’s yet another old drawing. It’s been a while since I’ve seen Steven Universe (SU), but I still enjoy this ship. I’m still sad that Mystery Girl (or Sabina, as I call her in the title) didn’t get another major appearance. The theories about how she would would return got me excited about seeing her again and I was let down. That’s what can happen when you jump on hype trains. The theory that Mystery Girl was the Sabina that Kevin talked about was really interesting and that’s where I got the name from. It’s apparently a type of rose. That’s a bit frustrating as someone who doesn’t want her to be entirely defined by her similarity to Rose, but the fanon conception of their dynamic is super cute because while Sabina’s similarity to Rose is a point of contention in their relationship, they both affirm that Pearl’s love for her is because she’s her and not because she’s like Rose. Some fics I read had Pearl being such a doting partner that Sabina (or Sheena as she was often called) used to tease Pearl by calling her “Mom,” but it wasn’t meant as an insult because Sheena had never felt so loved.

I’ve got more drawings of them to post so look out for that if you still ship this.

Pearl and Mystery Girl belong to Rebeca Sugar.
