Description Colorado winters are cold enough to freeze your kachina!!!

I put this in the animal section because he represents a Deer or Elk. The native American Hopi tribe have made Kachina dolls for hundreds of years. They represent all kinds of animals and charactres. This watercolor is of an Elk or Deer kachina.

Don't ask me what I was thinking, it must have been late at night during a full moon!!!

I'm sorry that I'm unable to reply to all comments nowadays but I do appreciate them. Thank you for looking and for the kind comments!

Kachina means "spirit" to the Hopi Indian tribe. They had Kachinas to represent the spirits of different animals and they believed these spirits to be ancestors of human beings. They had Kachina dancers and carved dolls from wood but also used Kachina designs on many other forms of art.

I will submit another snowy deviation shortly, without borders, just for you

that's a great compliment. i'm looking forward to it. is it also going to be blue?

i have submitted my newest painting now but it didn't turn out the way i wanted. the snowflakes looked strange so i covered them with black paint. :I maybe it looks a bit wintery without the flakes but... but... :C

Well It was going to be blue but I think I've used too much color and now I have to make a new plan it will still have a blue hue but won't be as snowy as I had planned, I think it may just be the begining of a snowstorm, lol.
I am really out of practice with watercolor and its going slow.

i like acrylics better because it's easier to make changes. watercolors need more planning and i never know från the beginning what my paintings are going to look like when they are finished. it's kind of exciting.

paint! paint! i want to see it.

Thats true, watercolors are not forgiving at all. Even though I plan my watercolors, they hardly ever turn out the way I expect them to, so they can be surprizing too. I try to control them but once they are started, they seem to control me! I hope I can get this one done today.

i like this one. i like blue. ;] but maybe i would have prefered it without the borders. they are so sharp and the rest of the picture is kind of soft. eh. i can't express it better. ;]

Thank you, The borders are also a native American Indian design, they used this kind of border on pottery mostly but also on rugs and jewelery. Its a bit extreme but I wanted it to look like it was just floating in the air. Strange, I know
