Wow, this is gorgeous! I always hate trying to do all the teensie little dots and stripes on barn owl's wings. But they're so pretty! Our barn owls are called Twilight (Madam) and Star (Thug)...

Aha! This is a lovely painting, just what I've been looking for. I haven't been a deviant for that long, but this is one of the few owl pieces I've seen, and one of the fewer beautifully crafted one.

great job. oil is a difficult medium to use (at least for me) I'm envious of your ability to use it for the texture and designing you show here. (if that makes sense lol ^^)

Oil is the only thing I know how to do lol! I only started 2 years ago when I went to an oil painting workshop here in France (it was a mistake - I thought I was going to an exhibition!) When I got there it was difficult to explain so I started and I've been painting ever since. It really wasn't something I planned for my retirement!

That's an amazing story really. I just find acryllics easier because they dry pretty fact lol.

WOW! The detail is amazing! The feathers are really pretty. I tried to do a barn owl and I UNDERSTAND how much grief it is to get all the detail on all the feathers! You handled this very nicely! Congrats on your great triumph!
