Acrylic and Toner on Canvas 14" x 11"

Commission for my old classmate Jonathan from UCSB. He was in the Psychology department, his favorite Halloween costume is Freud, and he's the one waving the big flag in the middle.

For the small details in the banners and flag, I printed out the artwork on my local library's laserjet printers (reversed) and mod-podged them onto the canvas face down. After letting the glue dry properly, I went in with a damp sponge and worked off the paper pulp gently. I wouldn't recommend this for oil paint, only acrylic!

I referenced those old war paintings from Europe and America around 1700s to 1800s, and each figure's face is based off of photo references. I had to make a clay Freud so I could rotate his head to the right angle. The clouds were probably my favorite part.
