Description “. . . . . what?”
Shino’s dad merely smiled at him.
“I want you to move in with me.”
Shino cringed.
“She’s that mad at me?”
“I’d be lying if I said that wasn’t part of the case… but most of it had to do with the fact that I wanted you to move in with me for quite some time.”
“. . . .why? We hardly know each other.”
“Exactly! We’re family therefor we SHOULD know each other!”
“. . . . I don’t know anything about Aunt Stacy.”
“Well, neither do I.”
“Or Marcus.”
“Um, that’s probably for the best…”
“Nor my mom, but that was okay before. So why knowing more about you or you knowing more about me that big of deal?”

His father looked heart broken. Of course Shino would ask him something like that. Shino grew up in a missed up family in a missed up situation. What made it worse was how opposed Shino was to the whole ‘moving’ thing. He clearly didn’t want to do this. Why would he? Missed up or not…this WAS his home.

“Look Shino-“ he placed a hand on Shino’s shoulder “I get that this is something new and it’s uncomfortable-“
“Don’t I have a choice?! I mean, it’s not like she’s ever home. So what if she’s mad, she practically lives at work. She never comes to see me anyways, just to pick up the occasional ‘thing or two’. So who cares if I’m at her house, I use it more than she does! Heck the place could of burned down and she’d probably never even notice until it came time for her-“ Shino then used a snotty tone and bent his middle and index fingers “annual party.”
His father blinked a few times at the realization of something. Shino never once said that moving in with HIM was the problem. Could it have been that Shino wasn’t upset about moving in with a stranger of a parent but-

“Are you upset cause if you move you’re going to a new location?”
“Damn straight I am!” Shino yelled ticked off “Mom finally okayed me to go to this school, I’m ACTUALLY in a relationship-“
“With Kiba.”
“With Kib- . . . how-?“
“Says so on your collar.”
Shino blushed slightly in embarrassment. Oh yeah…
“And . . . you’re okay with that?”
“Wow, we really do need to spend more time together.”
“But wouldn’t it ruin your image? I mean, me being with another guy and all…”
“Ah Shino? That’s your mom. I’m your dad. Honestly I couldn’t care less.”
“. . .huh.”

He sighed.
“Well now that I know what I’m dealing with, let me try this in a different approach. I get that you like it here for convenient reasons, but don’t you get lonely living in this house by yourself?”
Shino glanced away from him.
“Sometimes…but Kiba comes over every now and then.” Shino smiled warmly “He keeps me company.”
“But not all the time. And do you know why that is?” Shino hesitantly looked up at him “It’s because he has a family.”
Now Shino was just confused.
“So?”
“Uh, how to explain this… they need to check up on one another.”
“Like our family get together parties?”
“No not quite, uuuh… okay yes like that but less people and more frequent.”
Shino shivered.
“Poor Kiba…”
Ah no, it’s actually poor you. His father commented dully to himself.

“Why can’t I just stay here?”
“Because I don’t think it’s healthy for you.”
“What do you mean? I eat healthy foods… well every now and then… I get plenty of sleep-“
“Mentally Shino, I mean mentally.”
“… I’m not morbidly depressed.”
. . . . It’s like I’m arguing with a five year old. His father sighed.

“Look, I know I’m probably not making any since to you right now… but I really do think you moving in with me would be for the best.” He then turned around to head for the door “Your mom’s not gonna be here for a while, so you’ve got time to consider my proposal. Please think it over.” And with that left, leaving Shino alone in the big house.
“. . . was it always this quite?”

His cell phone rang breaking his train of thought and answered it.
“Hello?”
“Hey… you alright?”
Shino smiled. It was good to hear Kiba’s voice right now.
“You’re calling me during first period? You could of waited until lunch.”
“Shino.” Kiba warned “Answer the question.”
Shino sighed, damn that Kiba knew him well.
“I had a very rough day yesterday and had a talk with my dad this morning…”
“Wha really? He came down from work just to see you?”
No, but that did bring up an interesting point. Not only did his dad not go home last night, he stayed at their house just so that he could talk to him the next morning. He choose doing this instead of going to work. … did he really feel that strongly towards Shino moving in with him?

“Kind of…”
“Dude that’s awesome!”
Shino was feeling very mixed emotions. All in which he decided he did not like. He then heard the familiar chimes in the background and decided to end this.
“You should head for your next class.”
“. . . you heading over?”
“No.”

After everything that went on he really didn’t feel like going to school. He then heard the connection go off and looked at his phone. Kiba must of walked into a no signal zone. Shino sighed, sat himself on the couch and turned on the telly. At this point he just wanted to hear some noise. He did not want to be reminded just how quite the house actually was.

“Like omg! Did you hear-?”
CLICK
“And you too can loose 50 pounds just like that!”
CLICK
“Geico, 15 minutes can save you 15% or more on car insurance.”
CLICK
“Hello Ladies, how are you, fantastic. Does your man look like me? No. Can he smell like me? Yes. Should he use old spice body wash? I don’t know.”
CLICK
“Oooh Ricky, I’m hoooome!!”
. . . . there’s still shows that are in black and white? . . . . CLICK
“So rumor has it you broke up with him.” The audience awed in a sad unison “What’s that all about?” Shino blew air out of his nose annoyed as he watched the talk show guest get comfortable in her seat. Seriously? There was nothing better else on?

“Well you know how it is-“ Shino raised his hand with the remote ready to press the channel button “with long term relationships and all.” And froze.
“But didn’t you try making it work?”
“Oh we did. Texts, calls, emails, webcams, you name it.” Shino’s hand slowly lowered. “But that wasn’t enough you know?”
“No, what do you mean by that?”
“Well… its just not the same if they’re not there.” The lady leaned back into the couch and wrapped her arms around her “I need someone to hold me when I’m sad. To actually kiss me physically and not in the air through a video.” Her arms lowered and she turned to face the host “It wasn’t because we couldn’t get along, but with things getting in the way and keeping us apart there was no point in continuing. After all, a relationship is about being there for the one you love. Not being miles away from each other and never seeing each other. What’s the point in that?”
Shino’s head sulked as his heart slumped. Cheesy over the top drama show or not, she did have a point. “Sides, while all this was going on I was gradually starting to see other people.”
Shino harshly pressed the off button. He did NOT need to hear that… but … he then bit his bottom lip to the point it was bleeding, if he did move … would Kiba do the same?

His phone rang once again. Hoping it would take his mind off the topic he then picked it up and answered it.
“So yeah, uh, we need to talk.”
Of course it was Kiba. Shino sighed.
“What’s up?”
“… are we… going out?” Shino’s eyes grew wide. “I-I mean, I never really did answer your question but we do seem pretty close…”
Could someone say worst timing EVER?
“Kiba? Can we… not talk about this now?”
“Why?” Kiba asked clearly annoyed.
“It’s just not a good time.”
“Then when is?!” Now he did it “You haven’t tried asking me since! We haven’t done anything together except go to TenTen’s party AFTER I dragged you with me! And you totally blew me off yesterday!” Well, he kinda had too … he had to go to his family’s gathering party… yeah he probably should of mention that but for some reason bring up anything involving his parents made him sick. “What the hell!?!”

Shino’s eyebrows scrunched together as he leaned back blowing air out of his nose. He was mentally tired. In fact, he felt tired in general. He wanted to go to bed… and never wake up.
“Kiba…”
“Yes?”
“… I really can’t deal with this now.”
It wasn’t until AFTER he said that out loud he realized his mistake.
“You can’t… DEAL with this?”
“Kiba, that’s not what I-“
“Fuck you.”
And with that Kiba hung up. Shino groaned. Looks like his mom wasn’t the only one who hated him now.
“Fuck my life.”
