Description This is the Kokiri Emerald Charm, based off the ones in the Zelda games, I was commissioned to make for ~mekkouine-ke-peia .

The green gems are encased in clay, hand sculpted to have a faceted look, and painted in metallic gold acrylics. The whole piece is about one and a half inches tall.

This was a bit of a challenge to make because I couldn't use my regular polymer clay, since the gems would melt in the baking process, so I had to use a different kind of clay, which actually turned out really nice, and I'd certainly use it again in the future for similar projects. I am really happy with this little guy, and I plan on making the other stones too, when I have some free time.

Jewelry like this, as well as many other pieces can be commissioned by me. Check out my Etsy store here: [link] to see what's in-stock or feel free to send me an e-mail at YellerCrakka@yahoo.com if you're interested in anything.

what kind of clay di you use if it was not polemer?

YellerCrakka In reply to Melawe [2011-10-24 08:36:52 +0000 UTC]

It is made of air-dry clay, I am not 100% sure what the name was anymore, it was the only time I used it, but it's sold in the same area of craft stores as polymer clay.

Thanks a bunch, and it is an acrylic gem, there's actually two, one on the front and one on the back to make a full sphere.

YellerCrakka In reply to BNW2194 [2010-09-16 07:57:34 +0000 UTC]

I'm sorry, I don't remember the exact type/brand name, it was the first and only time I used it, but it was an air dry clay sold in the same area as regular polymer clay.

Thank you very much, and there's not really any secrets or anything to this one, just sculpting air-dry clay around acrylic gems, sorry I don't have a tutorial or anything.

mandaredpanda [2010-05-08 03:12:37 +0000 UTC]

OMG THIS IS SO FANTASTIC!!! *Grabbyhands*

Were your gems plastic, is that why you couldnt use polymer clay?

Or will swarovski melt in the oven too? :0

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

YellerCrakka In reply to mandaredpanda [2010-05-23 19:56:07 +0000 UTC]

To my understanding, the Swarovski "crystallized" gems they sell in craft stores will melt too, but I used a standard resin gem that would definitely melt in the oven.
