Description
Based on the Chinese Folklore, Chang e( 嫦娥） floated to the moon after consuming the pill which she (out of curiosity) took from her husband - Hou Yi when he was away.

When she was on the moon she felt lonely and met up with a new friend, Jade rabbit( 玉兔）. Together on the moon, they made elixirs and potions.

Mid Autumn festival was to celebrate the bountiful harvest during the mid-autumn period. This is also usually when the moon is the largest and brightest. This was why Chang E associated with Mid-Autumn festival, using her to personify the moon.
