Another practice with 3d and then paintover. Didnt end up using much of the character, don't think I had the right method of sculpting a body there..
And then I didn't really feel like doing anatomy in 2d either so I just covered the entire character with.. stuff. (3d image is on artstation if you wanna see the noobish sculpting: www.artstation.com/artwork/4bA…

It's a really great touch, how the halo gives an element of doubt to offset the natural instinct of fearing the very ominous/demonic-looking figure.

Even if a last minute addition, it's really great twist that opens up new ideas and possibilities. What if there are no such things as angels, only good and evil devils? What if this world's version of evil outsiders are beautiful and regal, but with an obvious mark of evil (angelic with oozing black wings)? Or what is the story of this particular fiend that compelled it to rebel against its evil nature?
