ah that's excellent. before my surgery my hip was partially dislocated - it slipped with every step and i could barely walk - when they got me out of bed the morning after surgery and i stood there on a solid hip it was amazing. of course i could barely move but the hip was solid.
and thanks. yes we should!

I know what you mean, I could hardly believe it when I stood up and there was no pain in the joint...
it was really strange, no pain - could just stand there on 2 legs and nothing.
my first thought was, oh, so this is how it's supposed to be
what a morning!
incidentally, I then threw up and almost passed out from too much tramadol,
so how much of that is true is a source of much speculation

dude! i almost threw up and passed out - in my case, from blood loss. my blood pressure went down to 78/40 when they stood me up
but the solid, pain-free hip

I get the whole "move the patient before he seizes up" approach... but looking back on it I'm not sure it was absolutely necessary

true, but then I was eager and got up on the same day as the surgery

my surgery was at 5 PM, i wasn't on the ortho floor until 9:30 PM - but i think i would have taken the day off even if i'd had morning surgery
