Yep I am doing fine. I have been about as busy as one could be I suppose. I know this story has attracted a lot of fans, which is part of the reason I have been ignoring it. Finally got the courage to try and write my own book.which is not easy. But here is hoping. I do hope to come back to this story, these characters deserve an end.

As for what I think of stuff, I honestly have not see any mlp in years. I lost a lot of interest and to be honest, my story I think really stopped after season 3 or two. And that is okay by me. I might catch up one of these days.

As for Sonic, I am pumped to see his movie. I would have saw it before the changes they are making and in general I still like his games.

It is tough indeed. Having school, work, and fanfic to think about. I couldn't type anything outside of search, comments, and status posts in DA and facebook. 

Things have been quiet in the Sonic/MLP community in DA groups without an active artist, fanfic writer, or a commissioner for fanart. I have tried my best as group admins to keep the fandom alive while defending fellow fans from trolls and addressing controversies to avoid a lynch mob. I also request and commission artwork (my gallery  and faves ) to entertain the fandom interest, albeit once a month as I am saving up or too tired to write a note. But in time, Sonic/MLP fans have either lost interest, moved on with their lives, or gave up with the coming end of G4 MLP. 

Speaking of the end of G4 MLP. Will you still continue your fanfic despite the news? A lot has changed and headcanons have been shattered. The latter of which is one factor contributing to the anhedonia for MLP in general. Other factors include the lack of appeal in new seasons, controversies that stirred up along the way, or the series has gone on too long for people.

You flatter me. Let's see. It's going to be a lot to cover the story. You'll have to binge watch them on Netflix and the MLP movie. My brief summary. Starlight Glimmer gets redeemed and becomes part of the main cast. Princess Cadence and Shining Armor have a baby alicorn named Flurry Heart. Family members are explored. Existing races like dragons, griffins, and changelings are further elaborated and later established friendly ties with ponies; except Queen Chrysalis who plots her revenge in exile. Newer species are introduced with Yaks, Hippo-griffs introduced from the MLP movie, and the Kirin. Starswirl the Bearded had disappeared 1000 years ago with other ancient heroes (called Pillars of Equestria) and later returned to resolve a conflict with a villain. The Mane Cast later established a School of Friendship for all the creatures they met. A lot of new characters introduced and many villains were redeemed. I haven't started with Season 9 as of this comment. It is their final season. Rumors have circulated on how the end of G4 would make room for G5. 

Fans have mixed reactions from all the new development. They're split between those who liked episodes with slice-of-life (everyday life drama) vs adventure ones. The MLP movie was positively received by fans, but not so much by critics . Some disagree with head writer Meghan McCarthy, for redeeming villains too often, introducing too many characters, focusing on the new characters instead of the Mane, or switching Derpy Hoove's name with Muffins. Headcanons are ruined by the official canon, which put off a lot of fanfic writers (and my worries if you followed suit). All of which I had to satirize  in a commission.

Sonic/MLP fan base can be explained in fold as I am essentially the fandom leader. I have been made founder for Sonic-Rainboom , DA's biggest group for Sonic/MLP. The previous founder lost interest. Given how I am actively supportive of the group and crossover, I am the suitable successor. I have tried my hardest in protecting fellow fans from derpibooru, art thieves, and trolls, resolving controversies, and keeping the fandom interest at bay. I have made some mistakes, like I once banned ships I didn't like. I regretted that decision, scrap the ban, and try to be more open-minded in accepting artwork regardless of my preferences. Fans were losing faith with the end of G4 mlp. I reminded them to adapt, go along with the flow, or stick with the old at their discretion. I once made a proposal for an official crossover. Archie Sonic was cancelled, and IDW are licensed to start anew with events after Sonic Forces. I tried out the official Sonic IDW facebook group, and Sonic fans really hate MLP. They would give out death threats and doxxing (publish home addresses in social media) to anyone who likes MLP or suggests for a crossover. My wish is that separate Sonic and MLP fandoms would get along, but they can't. So I have then decided that the Sonic/MLP crossover becomes its own fandom, and I'm their leader in DA. My biggest challenge is keeping the crossover interest at bay. Things are not active as they used to be with artists and fanfic writers inactive or leaving. Even I'm slowly losing interest as well. As I've said, I can commission artwork to continue inspiring old-timers and newcomers, but sparsely with my new job and exhausting schedule.

My hot take on what you just laid out.

One, you were right to rescind your ban, devart should be first and foremost be about expression. It takes a big man to admit when they have made a mistake.

Sonic fans hate everything, heck they hate Sonic for crying out loud.

As for handcannons being ruined. Meh, mine was ruined at like season 3 and I simply did not care. If that is a roadblock, then you couldn't have been that passionate. Think about it, everything you write is false and not true to the story. That is why it's fan fiction.

I can see why the writer changed names, Hasbro is a kids company, and we are in a time period with companies cow towing to noisy complaints. Luckily it is starting to have backlash.

Redeeming villains sucks and removes threats and makes everything predictable. But it is a show geared for 8 year old girls so I guess, still stinks but I guess.

I heard in passing that the mane cast got backdated and others to the spotlight.

I am impressed with all your work, holding onto a fandom like this must be tiring. But it shows you believe in it.

As for your fears, no that did not put me off, I love the characters I made, or at the very least their personalities and often go back to their stories in my head. But then, I sit and think about how it really isn't my own. How I am bound by people's expectations of what they should be. And then I think about the story I want to tell. It makes me want to write a story. My own real story with my own characters and my own world.

But then I really want to see these characters to the end. Spitfire's personality is the greatest thing I have ever made. She is an angry, fierce, broken women and Twilight is slowly growing more confident, and Sonic has real guilt in his heart.

They need to reach the end. I swear I will finish this story. I actually set up a schedule for myself this summer to write. For the first time in a long time I can just be alone and write.

This commission sums up on what I’ve been doing with my life from childhood 90s, juvenile delinquency in the 2000s, college student in the 2010s, spend five years of gaming after getting an AA degree, and doing manual labor as of now. I am currently back to studying in college while working as a laundryman in a luxury retirement home. The pay is good, but very tiring. The work does help me lose a lot of weight, where I went from 215 lbs to 175.

Still, it is like working three jobs. Being a student, laundry work, and looking after the Sonic/MLP fandom. Maybe I should add a fourth role of being paranoid, where I frequently check and make sure my information and family's are kept private and being wary of hacking attempts and scams. Altogether, I would spend whole days sleeping 12-14 hours. No time for gaming, which I haven’t been on Steam for a year. And no time for writing outside of comments, status posts, and a few paragraphs in a journal entry.

I thought about quitting my job, so I can be here in DA often. But my sister managed to persuade me otherwise. She has set me up for a foreign exchange student program to Japan , and the condition is that I have to cover all the finances. Meaning I need to save up if I were to travel abroad. Maybe live as a permanent resident in Japan if I happened to like it there; I’ll return home if not.

Apologies for the week's late response. I've been very busy. I'll split my comment response between fandom and personal.

Yeah, it fell in my guilty conscience. Impeding creativity ruins the purpose of an art forum like deviantart, freedom of expression and exchanging artwork and ideas. It takes a leader to admit mistakes. It is another that I lost trust in influential members who left because of my impulse. I try to tell myself, "Forget them. We can always find newer artists and writers." It hasn't been helpful as newcomers are too busy, don't have the talent, or are too focused on one theme. Example: one focuses too much on Sonic than the crossover; the other does only ships. I wish to see a mix variety of art, not just the same repeated trend from the usual users.

Sonic's infamous fanbase. They have tried to give me a review bomb (1-star rating) on google or yelp. Thankfully, my name is too much of a John Doe for English-speaking Asians. Google my full name, and you'll find doctors, lawyers, musicians, and businessmen; none of them are me. Apparently, there's more than a 100 sharing my first and last name in California alone.

Speaking of Sonic's continuity. They're retconning the setting by removing any mention of Mobius or Earth, humans, and previous characters from Archie to a startover with Sonic Forces. The planet is referred to as Sonic's World or just world, inhabited by anthropomorphic animals (no longer called Mobians), and Eggman/Robotnik is the only human. What happened to Princess Sally, Freedom Fighters, other Archie characters, GUN, or humans in general are yet to be seen; or scrapped and forgotten. It is hinted by Takeshi Iizuka that they're going for the two worlds setting; one for Sonic animals and another for humans like Sonic X. Controversies as usual from oldtime fans versus newcomers.

I was worried on how Hasbro introduced their own Dragon Lord while you would have your own. But then, you can always say that your headcanon is an AU (alternate universe) where the official canon doesn’t apply. Soniclink...sort of?...lost interest in MLP when he saw Rumble being a semi-villainous to the CMC, which conflicts his ship with Scootaloo. He has since been focusing his fanfics on Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

I am a bit confused on the overreactivity. They’re calling it an issue of political correctness, identity politics, and outrage culture? All those words are too confusing for me even after looking at urbandictionary and their wikipedia pages. Beforehand in the 90s and 2000s, it was concerned parents who make rants for what their children saw despite being told of the age ratings. Now it seems anyone causing a ruckus in social media? I don’t know. I don’t use social media much outside of DA. I only made a twitter account , so no one can try to impersonate me. My facebook is limited to families and friends met in-person.

Redemption is a theme requiring time and effort in both story writing and real-life. Speaking for myself where I used to be a violent teen until I have to grow out of it. I can accept the time needed with Discord, Sunset Shimmer, and Starlight’s episodes featuring their character development. It becomes problematic when redemption is handed out to every villain like a get-out-of-jail card. Diamond Tiara has her redeeming episode. But then what happens afterwards? She stops being relevant, for not being able to provide an essential plot to the story: conflict. Instead, another villain has to take her place. Hasbro writer staff has been aware of the complaints, so maybe they decided not to be forgiving on some villains who I can’t say out of spoilers.

They have introduced many new characters and place them in the focus recently. This bothers some fans who would rather go with the Mane. I for one am a bit mixed. On the one hand, it feeds nostalgia in sticking with the old and it sells. The other, relying too much on nostalgia for an aging fanbase isn’t ideal on the long term and can be off-putting to newcomers. That, and it can get tiring seeing the same characters every now and then.

I am literally the only one in DA in looking after the Sonic/MLP fandom. I want to say the whole internet, but I don’t hold much influence in fanfiction.net or youtube. The latter in which I rather not make videos of myself. It is definitely exhausting when combined with my real-life concerns.

I have to admire your stern tenacity in continuing with your story, regardless of what’s been going on in the canon continuity and the hiatus. Figured that by going back to school, we would have the time to write. Like once we’re finished with our homework and studies, we can use the school library to type out our stories. You can do it by this summer. I can’t with my story when I’ll explain in the other comment.

I met Billy Dee Williams AND David Mazouz at Vancouver Fan Expo, had a bunch of stuff SIGNED by Billy Dee Williams and David Mazouz, narrowly survived a car accident, I pissed off approximately 27 Trump Supporters and approximately 37 SJWs, broke my foot (TWICE!), joined the Boycott for “Solo”, I got my first job ever AND SOMEHOW put up with it for almost 3 years (It was an A&W), AND I fought alongside Pewdiepie in the War against T-Series!


Most of these accomplishments within the span of 5 months.

I too am glad to be breathing. So I am in college now and have been through a lot. Most importantly I think I want to write a book. A real book. So I have been working on that which is significantly harder than this fanfic, but I am in love with the idea so I keep plugging away at it.
