# About me

I am a media and entertainment professional with a background in education and museum science, who grew up dreaming of exploring space, but instead spent several years teaching about space, science, math, and writing. A classically trained ballerina and experienced singer, I have narrated and produced over two dozen science fiction, fantasy, and classic children's lit audiobooks; and loaned my confident, youthful gravitas to a variety of characters in animated web series, games, and audio dramas.

When I’m not in the studio, I’m often working on near future science fiction or contemporary fantasy short fiction, or experimenting with new media and interactive storytelling. Or I’m blogging about autodidactism, communities of practice, lessons learned as I develop my own skills and projects, and things that just catch my interest.

Does that make me a bit of a geek? Probably, but I like it that way!

Previously, I taught in various regional history and science museums, planetaria, and after-school science, math, and writing programs, often developing or contributing to educational programming and show production. I also independently developed and produced the YouTube channel Dead Bunny Guides (formerly part of YouTube EDU).

In my spare time, I like to refuel with yoga, gritty/hopeful science fiction and fantasy media, girl-friendly children’s media, and 90's alternative music; and I believe that sufficiently advanced science and technology is indeed magic.

You're welcome. I love the idea of a fishtank in a non-natural setting. It brings a nice touch to the setting.

I'm interested in your connected short story, and this seemed to be the best way to keep up with it.

Looks like we might have some other things in common, too, so I'm glad to meet you. Hopefully, we'll keep each other entertained and will find we can learn a lot from each other.

kirylin In reply to OokamiKasumi [2010-06-02 05:25:32 +0000 UTC]

It actually got me thinking about serial work in a way I hadn't before, even though I'd already known that episodes have to be entire self-contained stories. I hadn't really thought about the implications of trying to break up a novel across a series, though, even though that's really how I've always published my writing online.

Thank you for writing the tutorial.

Live and learn, ne?
-- There's a lot more to writing a story then just scribbling down one's personal fantasies. *wink* Hopefully this will inspire you to bigger and better stories -- the kind your readers would Pay for.

I do have a jig. I use a Wild Wire jig I picked up from Michael's.

It's served me very faithfully, but I'd love to step up to one of the Olympus models. I'd more than likely pick it up from Fire Mountain Gems.
