As a Greek Geek, I'll let you in on a little secret: Poseidon Earthshaker (yes, that's his real name!) and his niece Athena got along worse than Hercules and Hera! Which is to say, they got along like cats and dogs!

Haha! Yeah, I know! I still find it a bit strange that they managed to be on the same side during the Trojan War. XD

I did not know that, my friend! Also, what got you interested in Greek mythology? For me, it's that 90s Hercules movie from Disney.

I think I first got interested in Greek mythology when we read about in school (that was in the early 90s, before Disney's Hercules. Haha, I'm so old). I was interested in mythology and ancient civilizations in general, but the Greek gods stood out as so wonderfully flawed and human. So I borrowed more books about Greek mythology from the library and from then on it has remained one of my biggest interests. ^^

Nice! I'm working on a story that is like the baby of Kid Icarus and Mega Man, called (this is a tentative title, btw) Ultra Illiad! Would you like to help me? Also, I'm a 90s kid, too! Born in '95! Did you have a SNES or a Genesis in those days, if you don't mind me asking?

I need help with the story. I've got the beginning and the ending, but the middle is blank! Also, don't worry about the response time: one thing I've learned about the internet is that you almost always shouldn't expect an immediate reply, especially if they're either lazy or busy.

Well, to know the beginning and the end is a good start. What exactly is the story about?

It basically takes place in a futuristic Greece. If you want some more details, then note me whenever you want to. I like this site, but I'm paranoid that someone will steal my ideas.

Poseidon shouldn't be so salty, especially since that's why he's not the patron of Athens.

By the way, you changed his hair colour, didn't you? I remember that he was black-haired before.

Yes, I did. Dark brown hair suited him a bit better (plus it's more fun if Hades is the only one of the siblings with black hair).

I figured. ^w^
Did Poseidon, Hestia, Hera and Demeter all get their hair colour from their mother Rhea?

Yes, I think so (I still have no idea what Kronos looks like).

Someone like that sicko...I would say black hair. But that would raise the question why Zeus is blonde...XD

Hm... Maybe Kronos has black hair and Zeus got his blond locks from Ouranos?

It would also explain why Gaia had the hots for him at the beginning. XD

Poor Poseidon. Guy can never win when it comes to competing over cities. He even put Zeus in a bit of a situation when he was competing with Hera for Argos. XDΒ

I don't remember so much from that story. The local river gods judged who the land belonged to...?

KellySchot In reply to A-gnosis [2017-04-22 18:23:31 +0000 UTC]
Yup, pretty much. Zeus couldn't bring himself to make a decision between his brother and his wife, so he had the local river gods choose who would be the city's patron. They chose Hera, and in revenge Poseidon dried up all the wells and springs. He didn't release the land from drought until a daughter of the king of Argos slept with him (after he chased off/killed a satyr that was accosting her, sleeping with her was basically his reward for his deed).Β

Very wise of Zeus.
And I don't know if I should laugh or cry that Poseidon didn't let the drought cease until he got laid...
