Description I don't really know what this is, I started sketching and it happened - I just got my photos from the Wistman woods on Dartmoor, in the south of England (*amazing* place [link] ), and wanted to use the great tree refs I now have

I like it though, so I might use it for a painting with some gold leaf involved. As for the meaning of the piece, well, not even sure this is a marionette but it needed a title . Drawing the tree was a lot of fun.

dry pastels and graphite. A4 I guess?

Love this! But then I have a real softness for pastel. My father taught me to use it as a teen, so it has pleasant associations for me.

was your father an artist? I seem to remember you talking about him in a similar way before, but I'm not sure. I like pastels too, I find them quite soothing...

Yes, he is an artist. He works mostly in watercolor now, but he did a lot of oils and pastel when I was younger.
