This would definitely make Japanese more fun to learn in the game format. Beautiful colors and I love the textures of the road to the bridge and the clouds as well!

I recently had to drop some Japanese studies because I failed one of the exams, but I continuously search for learning materials for more about Kanji and advanced grammar. This illustration is absolutely gorgeous (I am ENAMORED with the bark of the close by tree!!) and I don't think I've ever been so excited about an educational game as I am now! Gorgeous art for a subject I adore- any chance there's a website one can find more information?

Going the exam route is hard, I just use the immersion way for Japanese myself. Of course I am only learning for fun so there's no rush. Not everyone agrees if you can learn a language that way, but I did it with English, so hey
Glad you like the illustration. The game's still in development and I don't recall if they had a website yet, but the game isn't playable at this point anyway, I'm afraid.

Mostly like that, yes. I had some basic English lessons at school, but I outpaced them by a few years pretty quickly, so they were mostly a reminder on some parts I was weaker at. I just listened and watched everything in English and that builds vocabulary and grammar really fast. I watched a ton of cartoons back then, strangely those helped out a lot. They were much more fun than those stupid lessons so it was much easier.

Thanks, it's only my second language, maybe Japanese will be the third if i ever become close to fluent. Tried to learn Russian, didn't like it, didn't learn anything.
Why did you start learning Japanese specifically? Going to continue trying?

Some languages are more appealing with others, it'll be exciting to hear if you find another that catches your interest!
When I was younger I was a huge fan of manga and anime when the Japanese pop culture wave hit Sweden- it died down over the years, but the language stuck with me, and it grew on me even more as I started studying it last year. There are several languages I'd like to learn (Like Spanish, I studied it for a couple of years as a mandatory class, but it was great fun! I hope to pick it up in verbal practice one day), but Japanese is on the tippy-top of my to-dos :'D I'll definitely continue trying, and keep up what I've learned so far.

Same here, but I'm still a fan of anime and manga. I understand now enough to watch most anime without subtitles, so I might be able to just binge watch stuff and increase my vocabulary like I did with English. Of course it's not the same as learning the proper polite Japanese, but vocabulary is the same.
I wanted to learn Spanish when I was in school, but only Russian was available at the time, horrible.

I envy you a bit, I never managed to get to that stage :'D I understand bits and bobs of the dialogue, but my vocabulary is too thin to piece together an episode, even with visuals. Then again, every person finds different methods working out for them!
Boo D: A real shame, considering also how widespread Spanish as a language is, and how many variables you find - like, learn the basics of Spanish and you'll be able to comprehend a couple of more languages to boot! Do you plan on learning it in the future?

Yeah, some people prefer just rote memorizing, but I really hate that approach.
I might try to learn Spanish at some point, but not unless I drop Japanese or learn it pretty well first, I know I don't have enough time to learn two languages at the same time realistically. Also it would be harder, I don't have much of an interest in any Spanish language media, which would make immersing myself in the language much easier.

I wish you the very best of luck if you choose to pursue it- it's got fun and interesting grammar! And I wish you luck overall with all your linguistics ;v; One at a time though, of course

I will continue to try and good luck to you as well. learn some strange obscure language if you can. From what I have heard, there are quite a few almost extinct languages that only a few people speak anymore

I am learning Japanese myself, that's one of the reasons this project interested me. Though I am learning at a pretty slow, casual pace since it's just for fun
