Quilting and embroidery are crafts. Like painting, craft is creating something out of nothing.
20 years ago, when I was in poverty, I learned how to make quilts from old sheets for my bed. Ultimately I submitted my quilts for consideration at the county fair and won a couple of prizes.
I was into 3D at the time and I did a lot of plaster and papier mache, and working with cloth was a part of my 3D experiments.
Because of my limited space I can't do 3D now, and I congratulate you for being able to realize your spectacular creations.Β

Thank you. It's a large painting I did in Arizona, and it's still there. It took a couple of days to finish. I'm glad you like it.

Well, I don't know about that, but he has always been an inspiration to me. Thank you for the high praise.

I think it's one of the few paintings he did that had a name. I liked his apple tree series that evolved into "Horizontal Tree" and then he moved on to his horizontal/vertical primary color art. I think his big abstracts were repetetive, over rated, and had their prices driven up by those "clueless collectors" we've discussed before.

I can top that. At Art Basel this year an artist duct-taped a banana to a wall and sold it for thousands. Then some dude at the banana.

It didn't matter. They replaced the banana. The buyer received a certificate of authenticity in exchange for the $120,000. The artist actually created a subsequent version that sold for $150,000. WTF is going on?Β

Fool. Parted. Do I win?
An example...Do you remember the yellow Livestrong bracelets promoted by the corrupt Lance Armstrong? The original bracelets went for $20 USD. At the time, we're talking 15 years ago, a young friend of mine bought a bracelet for 200 pesos ($20 USD). Nevertheless, the authentic bracelets were made in Taiwan, but the knock-off version was made in China. My friend paid 200 pesos for a 10 peso bracelet.Β But at least he was stylish for awhile.
