Originally this was gonna be this epic realism piece of an eagle with the moon... but I'm sure my idea's been done before what with all the massive amounts of Americanism revolving around the lunar landing, so I decided to go for something that felt a bit more Canadian and personal to me (the lake is inspired by my family's Lake Lot) which is important because this is my first ever artsy gift to my dad. (I think he gets jealous because I'm always drawing crap for my mom but never him lol.)

He really adores the phrase 'the eagle has landed' being a NASA geek (he listens to the freaking NASA news feed thing... slightly creepy in that it doesn't make him pass out from the dullness of it) and as a kid he was totally into the whole space race thing. Still is. He also really adores bald eagles (he used to be a biker lol) and so I decided I wanted to paint him an eagle. (Even though I kinda detest eagles to tell the truth... they get flaunted around too much and as a symbol, they're pretty IN YOUR FACE... at least in my opinion. However, I DO happen to love drawing their heads. So deliciously fierce looking! )

Shooo anyway, Happy Father's Day to my Dad and all the fathers out there in the world! Props!

Next year I promise I'll paint a better eagle... or a grizzly bear. But I really, really suck at bears, so I dunno about that.

By far not my best picture ever, but meh.

Couldn't resist giving the eagle a fish! What's an eagle without a fish eh? I woulda made the fish all gory, but my dad isn't very fond of my blood effects. I think they make him sick actually...
