A real media piece, done in ink and watercolor. I like the look of watercolor on cardstock. It comes out kind of textured and gritty, like markers. Playing with negative space was fun. I think i'll do more of these.Related content

Gorgeous, love the cool colours you used, the pose is amazingly well done and the eyes are very expressive, love the details of the scales and wings, hope someday to be able on doing such lovely pieces

Really, really good, but...
If it's a sea dragon, why does it have wings? Those... Aren't particularly... Useful when you live in the Ocean.

flying fish. Countless sea birds. Penguins, particularly. The flightless cormorant. There are a number of marine animals who have adapted to fly (or glide), or retain appendages not necessarily suited to water, but which they have not yet evolved out of. Perhaps this particular dragon species has only just recently in its evolutionary history become aquatic. Perhaps flying over the surface of the ocean has advantages in finding food, mates, territory, etc.

hehe it looks like it got right out of the water to pose on that rock for you. great colors and texture. it makes the dragon look all soft :]
