blue pencil... that's great stuff that is.

this may require a longer answer than you feel like giving me, but were you born with this skill or were there places you went or things to practice to get as good as you have become at drawing anatomy and creatures/characters?

The basics of it is I was an odd kid that preferred to stay indoors and draw more than going outside.
I was obsessed with drawing.
A time came when I started to realise that there was a limit to my skill and that
learning more would make my drawings better.
I signed up for a summer drawing class that was on offer at a highschool.
The class involved a bit of illustration technique and a bit of life drawing.
A little later I signed up for a portraiture class in the city followed by a cartooning class given by a charicature artist.
When I graduated from highschool I went for a 3 year course in graphic design.
At the end of the graphic design course I had one class called television graphics, which involved a bit of animation, where I got to see the animation work from another college.
I was suddenly signed up for that college and another 3 years in animation.
From there I was recruited to work in feature animation.

So, its a bit of nerdyness, obsession and education.

Cool! A bit more hazardous than giving treats to our huskies. I really like your idea for the dragon's head. Any plans to work this up any farther?

The pic is great. I do see some of the lines were cleaned up using photoshop *or appears so* and makes it look computer generated, but great job with the anatomy of the dragon and scaling it for us with the human. Also, The cobblestones are done in a good perspective and done well at that, this is a very good one.

the only thing I did other than the scan was try to clean the black off the left side
with painter.

The burn/dodge tool in Photoshop. Oh yes. It's like magic, when you get the dodge intensity to the right levels after a few trials and errors. I usually up the contrast and lightness a bit first, and then go dodging. Big brush, very low intensity, on the highlights level.

i like the sketch lines...the bit of touch up you did in photoshop is distracting though, but overall its pretty. maybe you shouldnt have shaded the wings?
