Description

Another raptor. I think I'm starting to get the hang of this, especially of not completely messing up the wings, lol.

Perhaps she just drove off someone encroaching on her territory and is screeching good riddance at them.

I'm really enjoying all the feathers!! Are they harder to draw with feathers then, or just different?

At the moment a bit harder, because I'm not used to drawing feathered raptors, but eventually probably just different. It creates a more complicated silhouette to fill in at the colouring stage, but magic wand makes that pretty easy to get around, too.

lol I think probably the hardest thing is not thinking of what I'm drawing as a scaly raptor with some feathers glued on, but as an animal that plumage is a natural part of. Big birbs with teeth and more claws. Technically the JP raptors have wings, too, just very deformed ones that are hard to think of as wings without feathers.

I can imagine! Yes I think I'd struggle with that part too as we've been brought up to see them originally as lizards rather than birds. So I think I'd start by 'sticking' feathers onto a lizard too rather than drawing a toothy bird!

Yeah, it's such a shame JW stuck to the scaly raptors, and made them less bird-like than the JP raptors even were, because that would have been such a great opportunity to advance the general public's mental image of dinosaurs to more closely match current science, like JP did with clarifying they're warm-blooded and related to birds. I know it's kind of hypocritical of me to say that considering how much scaly JW raptor fanart I've been drawing, but.
