Description This is a quick maquette sculpt for the gymnast I'll be working on next. This is 16" tall. I only spent around 2 hours on this to get the proportions and pose laid out. Not too concerned about details yet. I'll be measuring up this one and making the armature for the larger one next week. I'll try and remember to take some in progress shots as I work on it.

how did you keep the arms from dropping? or is the clay just that strong?

There is an wire armature inside the sculpture much like a skeleton.

And if the image used for non commercial purposes? Can it? (I just upload my work, where use of your picture, to here (DeviantArt) ).
In this case would work with using this image.

And if I show you the commercial work to use this picture, then it would be possible to agree?
(I indicate the origin of the image...)

I appreciate your interest in my work but I would rather you didn't use my images in any of your own work.
This work was a commission from Stanford University and I'm not sure they would appreciate me letting others use the images.
I hope you understand.
Thanks.
Mark.

Can't wait to see it finished.

2 hours of work for that level of structure and detail. Can't even imagine getting even a third of that done in that amount of time. Amazing. I guess constantly working in the field has made a lot of these things second nature to you.

That's one hot buttocks. The musculature is amazing. I like seeing this piece in such a raw form, emitting an almost human essence. I can feel the tension of this gymnast, hanging in the air.
