Description meant to get me acquainted with my new Schmincke Horadam watercolors. I looked up pictures which are mostly one color so that I could then explore the color and see how much range it has (washes only).

I think I should really do that too with my watercolor, it seems like a good practise ^^
I think I'll leave some short criticism for every color (from left to right, top row first):
#1: Looks really nice ^^ Maybe make the texture of the fruit flesh stand out more by adding more contrast to it
#2: Can't really say anything about it since I have no idea what it actually is (I'm sorryy)
#3: The leafes look really neat ^^
#4: I'm not quite sure about tis one; it's made of metal right? Sp maybe some lighter highlights would bring it out more ^^
#5: I LOVE THIS ONE! probably my favourite on this page ^^ Very well painted :3
#6: The coloring is really good, it does look like green glass ^^ The shape of the bottle looks a little bit iff, but I think that's due to limited space xD
#7: Okay, I think this is also my favourite one. I love the detail in it ^^
#8: This one looks nice too ^^

Hope I could help you a bit ^^
I'll comment on your other color studies some time later ^^

that's so nice that you comment on each color
I liek the cactus the most too XD hahaha
and the english-venetian red is just a perfect color as it is! and it washes utterly perfectly as well :3 I adore it and use it a lot for mixing colors too ^^ blends very well :3

I also have reference pictures linked for when you need to figure out what you're looking at ^^ because the whole point of this palette practice was to use as few colors as possible aside from the main color ^^ because I use this pics as references when I need to figure out which color to use when ^^ (acutally have them in a photo album and flick throuhg that to see how the color behaves in a greater picture great exercise to get to know new colors ^^ )

it already is I end up having to mix a lot less, preserving a lot of vibrancy because I can check which colors work best as a blend ^^ super helpful, don't regret any of the work I put into this project :3

This must be such great training/practice! Not only on getting to know the colours, but also textures and shapes and whatnot Looks great by the way~ Love the May green hue!

Yeah looking back this was a way better practice than I initially thought and it really makes me want to draw more realism with these colors ^^

May green is interesting since it's very opaque if used concentrated XD
I'll definitely need to buy the sap green hue too which I'm used to from my W&N colors since it is way more transparent, with more range and a deeper hue ^^

aah that's awesome! We will definitely look forward to see more of that too~

Ooh that's cool though
That could be practical yeah, and if you're used to it already then it's good to keep on going with that too, so you won't have to put too much extra time on learning how another colour works at all times OwO

But it will mix differently from a different brand XD the chemical pigment is different so it behaves differently when being combined with other pigments ^^ since learning that recently I always state not just my color hue but also the brand

Think of it like that: sugar and salt look alike but behave entirely different ^^ same goes for pigments :3 they at look the same but are chemically entirely different ^^

That's a really good way to look at it! sigh to think chemical classes could've been good to have X'D
