meant to get me acquainted with my new Schmincke Horadam watercolors. I looked up pictures which are mostly one color so that I could then explore the color and see how much range it has (washes only).I added of course accents of other colors too when there was a need of that.
really unhappy with the purple. Didn't realize it was a graining color ><
additional colors:
Vermillion light: payne's gray, neutral tint
deep red, 366: may green
manganese violet, 474: Ultramarine finest, ultramarine violett, permanent green olive, may green
helio turquoise, 475: burnt umber, payne's gray, neutral tint

#3: Yeah, you're right, they look a little bit weird, especially on this page with those other awesome paintings xD Oh well, things like that happen sometimes ^^
#4: The gem looks really pretty :3 Maybe draw the lines a little bit thinner, theyreally stand out here and are a little bit distracting from the blue of the stone itself. You still did a great gob at the overall painting, I especially like the silver around it and the way you drew it ^^

imo they look the most like the real deal XD that shine turned out great with this red ^^ and once dried it darkened up a lot too ^^
that shade just wasn't meant to be intense nor as a gradient >< I picked the wrong reference pictures to try and draw with it.... by now I used it as light and spotty shading though ^^ it's really nice for that use at least
I think I should have blended more, you're so right (or used diluted ink for it XD)
thanks so much for all your remarks on all these colors!! it is not just fun to talk with someone so engaged as you but it is also a great help to get a second set of eyes on it ^^ especially when you are very proficient with the same medium
