Yet another result of the Inktober challenge I'm participating in on my Tumblr. I've been meaning to draw or paint a lynx for so many years, and decided now was as good a time as any.Iberian Lynx are one of the most endangered cat species in the world, with roughly 200 individuals recorded. Decline has been linked to habitat loss and fragmentation, disease in prey populations (myxamatosis in rabbits in particular) and accidents involving humans (accidental trapping and car fatalities.) With luck, captive breeding efforts will boost this critically endangered species' numbers.

No mirroring, just a straight line to help orient me, a lot of double checking, and luck. (Normally symmetry is one of my worst enemies.)

I'm portuguese and we have nearly none here, but there is a special program now to try and save the species, same in Spain, they don'thelp themselves either because often when a female has 2 cubs the stronger cub will kill the weaker which is more common in birds than mammals.
both the iberian lynx and wolf are endagered but hopefully we will be able to save them!!

Almost all of the photos I've found of these cats have those intense eyes, between that and the bold markings and giant ruff, I just had to draw them! Thank you!
