More botw, surprise surprise :vSo Kass. I don't know if I want to worship or murder whoever came up with his design. I mean, it's gorgeous to look at, but a nightmare to draw. And that's just his backside hahahahahaaaaaaaah-
ahem.
I initially wanted to draw Kass singing with his daughters (which is the cutest thing I've seen in this entire game hands down), but then I took a closer look at the chicks' designs and... one, i can do, two maybe, but five? Hahahaha help. So I drew this instead.
I always try to stay spoiler-free in these descriptions, so I won't go much into details, but after completing a bunch of things, Kass reveals some more story to the player (and goes WELL into spoiler territory himself, so I suggest you don't talk to him at this stage if you care about the story and haven't found all the picture memories yet and by that I don't mean just the ones in the Sheikah Slate, but other... pictures too). You have to go to him at night for that, and when I saw him standing there at the dock, with the moon up high in front of him, first I took about 10 screenshots, and then decided I needed to draw this. This also made me realize even more that Link is tiny af in this game, literally everybody except children is bigger than him
Anyway, I'm really happy with how this turned out. I tried to only lineart the things in the foreground this time around (aka Kass, Link and the dock), and it finally looks like the background is actually, you know, in the background. Dunno why I didn't do that sooner, but better late than never. It also helped a lot having the actual location to look at, it was especially interesting to paint the dock with the moonlight shining on it. I kinda want to do more dynamic pieces as well, but I like to put a lot of emphasis on atmosphere, so I hope it still looks fine.

Okay, this is the prettiest thing you have done in a while.
Even while I can easily see that you used reference for Kass and Link and the stuff around them, this piece is completed with some really nice detail and depth that is rare in your works and I love it. I could go and list everything I find really appealing here, but that means I would just list everything there is in this, so I won't do that. :'P
The colors are well done too, but that's not a surprise since it's you. The long shadows behind the characters and white lines on them on the side where light source is is something little that adds so much to this. And the way the big cliff/mountain in the distance is much darker on left than on right (closer to the moon), it's just great.
The moon or the light around it looks just kinda awkward, and I would propably prefer if the sky was other than just nice dark blue but that's just really minor nitpicking from my part.
I hope making this taught you many things, because this just proves that you can do really incredible art if you put enough thought into it.

there's no such thing as too much hylian hood
thank you! i actually didn't use any references for link here (aside from the hylian hood pattern), i've just drawn him so many times by now that i know his design by heart. but i did use references for everything else, i say it in the description too, i'd rather do that than try to draw it from memory and completely half-ass it lol. i'm slowly trying to add more details in my full paintings, it's not even that hard and the result is so much more satisfying.
while highlights make all the difference! i'm so glad i have acrylics, things just pop to life if you add highlights, not even kidding. the cliffs were surprisingly easy to make, rocks aren't as scary to draw anymore haha
yeeah, when i first scanned the picture, the light around the moon was much too bright, so i removed some colour and scanned it again, but it still looks weird here. it looks much better irl (less contrast), i still haven't figured out how to do proper glowing effects with traditional media >.>
it sure did, especially drawing the dock (since i draw so little urban stuff), and i'll only get better hopefully!
